Jun. 12, 2006 - Monday, Monday
We just returned from our camping trip last night. One of our neighbors at the campground said that he came down from Delaware just to go to a flea market south of Richmond. Well, well, my husband loves flea markets, so we indulged him, and went to the flea market (which caused us to get home almost 4 hours later than anticipated). I gave myself a manicure while I waited for him in our trailer, something I have not been able to do for months. I went to the the HEAV convention while we were in Richmond. I attended seminars on nutrition, creative writing, and co-ops. I purchased a curriculum from the Institute for Excellence in Writing. While at the convention on Saturday, my children and husband went to the science museum in Richmond.
We would love to have some company on our camping trips. If there are any Christian families out there that also enjoy camping, check out our yahoo group - Christian Family Campers of Northern Virginia at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CFCNoVA/. I just started it last week, so right now I'm the only member, but if you are interested in joining just let me know. For now I will be posting reviews of campgrounds we have been to, and hope to post pictures soon. In the future I hope that my little group can offer a place for like minded campers to meet and organize group camp outs.
Well, it's getting late now and my Benadryl (I've had terrible allergies this spring, which I never experienced while I lived in Florida and Benadryl is the only thing that helps. Unfortunately, it makes me sleepy
) is wearing off which means the fog I've been in for the last couple of hours is lifting. Time to get to work!

Jun. 8, 2006 - HEAV
Today we are off to our first HEAV convention. I am looking forward to a little R & R. We are an RVing family, so we will be taking our trailer. Are there any other families out there that enjoy camping and/or RVing? I have always wanted to start a camping club. It seems like so much fun when a bunch of families get together for a campout! I have started a little yahoo group to try and get it started, so if you're interested you can e-mail me at cfcnova@yahoogroups.com . For the past 3 years in Florida we attended the FPEA convention in Orlando. It is always a special time for me to recharge my spirit and renew my vision. Well, I've got to go for now, got to get packing! Au revoir

Jun. 7, 2006 - Hola!
Hi fellow homeschool families!
We have been homescooling for years. We have Daniel 13, Peter 9, and Amaris 7. We currently live in Alexandria, Virginia. We just moved here from Miami, Florida where I (Mom) grew up. I have never made such a drastic move with 3 kids in tow. The kids are adjusting fairly well, but I'm starting to feel kind of lonely. I hope to meet some other families in the area, but I guess I've never been faced with the prospect of making all new friends. My parents arrived in the US in 1956 and 1960 from Cuba. I was born in Los Angeles, California and lived in Miami most of my life. I speak fluent Spanish, but have not been able to pass the language on to my kids because my husband is Polish. Well, that's a very brief introduction about us. I'll log on later and tell you more about us. J
