• Jun. 3, 2006 - Teach Your Child To Read In 100 Easy Lessons

I have recently started going through Teach Your Child To Read In 100 Easy Lessons with my 5-yr.old son.  Before we started this book everyday was a struggle to try and get him to grasp the difficult task of reading.  We have now been going through the lessons in this book everyday for about 30 lessons.  It is amazing the progress he has made.  I love this book!!  It's so exciting to see your child learn how to read.  This book may look complicated at a glance through it.  But once you sit down and really read and look at it, it is very simple.  My son is so proud of himself that he can read.  I pulled out the book we had previously been working on.  We couldn't get past the first few pages before.  Now he can read many of the words of the first 40 pages!!  It's very exciting.  Each lesson takes about 20 minutes.  Sometimes it takes longer b/c my son needs to talk about each word he just read.  But I just wanted to blog about this wonderful book and the amazing results in such a short time!

Cool! I am glad to hear that it is working out so well for you! I recently bought a copy of that book, I will probably start using it with my daughter in the fall. When my older two were younger, I used the phonics is fun workbooks from the Amish Print Shop, and they learned to read fine.... but I have heard good things about this one and thought I would give it a try. I don't know why, but even after teaching two children to read, I am still kind of nervous about teaching this one to read! Silly huh?

Just doing a random blog visit :-)

I have used the book you mention on and off with my now 8 yr old, and have just starting looking through it with my 4 year old. I think it gives us a good starting point.

I've heard wonderful things about this book! Fortunately, my son taught himself to read, but if my daughter or any future children are less motivated, this is definitely the book I will use! I agree, it is so exciting to see him read on his own because I know how many doors that will open for him in the future! Thanks for visiting my blog this morning! Have a good one!
