In addition to seeking to please God, having a passion for others, hardworking, and blameless behavior, I also pray that my children walk worthy of God, who calls them (1 Thess. 2:12). Colossians 1:10 says "that you may walk worthy of the Lord fully pleasing Him,..." and 1 Peter 1:15 tells us how we and our children can walk worthy of the Lord. 1 Peter 1:15," but as He who called you is holy, you also by holy in all your conduct."
Next, I ask the Lord that my children welcome the word of God as truth (1 Thess. 2:13). I pray that the Word of God would abide in them (1 John 2:14). We know how important the Word of God is! 2 Tim. 3:16-17,"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." The Scriptures are able to make us wise (2 Tim. 3:15). And our children will be blessed if they delight in His Word and meditate on it day and night (Ps. 1:1-2). I can not stress how important His Word is to us! I also pray that if you are not committed to the reading and studying of the Bible, that you would do it. I don't think we can ever talk about the Word too much. Too many churches and bible studies are studying what man has told us and not what the Lord Himself has told us in His written Word. Please make this a proirity. |
