Go Colts

I must admit that this is the most that I have ever watched of a Super Bowl.  For the most part, I have been disconnected from professional football.  The Colts just seem to be a likeable team.  I have liked Peyton Manning for a long time, and I am even more impressed by his coach Tony Dungy.  It is always nice when "famous" people give credit to God when speaking to the media, and I was especially impressed with how Dungyspoke of his faith in the interview after the game.  He is the first African American coach to win the Super Bowl, and he said that he is proud to represent African American people, but he was even more proud to represent his Christian faith.  He spoke of Chicago's coach as well, and said that they were both proof that coaching can be done using Christian principles.  It was obvious that his identity is more in being a Christian than it is in his race or his profession.

The most disappointing part of the whole Super Bowl experience was the fact that we had to have the remote handy whenever they went to a commercial.  Some of them were entertaining, I suppose, but some of them were very inappropriate, especially for children.  I watch very little network television, and I am out of touch with how bad commercials have gotten.  I dread the day when my children outgrow PBS and Disney which do not have commercials.  I suspect that we will move even more to only watching DVDs.  I can research ahead and see if a certain show or movie on television is appropriate, but that becomes pointless if the commercials are questionable.

Aside from the commercials, it was a nice evening.  The Colts won and the laundry is done!

I have a link on my blog of coach Dungy,
speaking of his faith!
I didn't watch the Super Bowl,(we don't watch broadcast t.v.) but I can just
imagine how bad commercials have gotten!
What a shame when you just want to watch football with your family.
