We decided to stay here one more day so we can take a ferry from Campobello to Dear Island so we can see the Largest Whirlpool, it is located between Eastport, Maine, USA and Dear Island, New Brunswick, Canada.
Waiting for the ferry from Compobello to Dear Island.
The ferry.
The Whirlpool is best seen 2-3 hours before high tide, however, we were told that it can be seen 'mid-tide'....so we were there about 2hrs after high-tide and there wasn't much of a 'show' by the "old sow". But here's info:
Apparently, at her peak, there can actually be a meter or more 'drop in the center of the whirlpool! We did see a picture in a museum in Eatport, ME....and it was a dramatic "hole" into the ocean.
I found your site, trying to find a picture of the worlds largest tidal whirlpools. Could you find and post a pic of the one on your website? The town, or country I did'nt catch. Do you know which one I'm referring to? Thank You, God Bless.
Everytime something is set aside for another day....Life gets in the way....but then again that is what it is all about - LIFE - .....and Life Goes On......
