Jenna's Surgery

8:41 PM, Jan. 23, 2008 .. 4 comments .. Link

Yesterday, January 22nd, for the first time we had to take one of our daughters in for minor surgery!  Jenna had a hernia that needed to be repaired -- when I first noticed it I immediately thought of cancer, so a hernia sounded wonderful to me!

Jenna did wonderfully!  Though she didn't do much talking, she smiled and didn't whine or cry at all.  I thought we were going to get to be with her until she went to sleep, but that wasn't so.  So we quickly prepared her that she was going to have to go with the nurse by herself and off she went without any tears.  (Esther was particularly impressed by this -- she is sure that she wouldn't have been able to do the same!)  I on the other hand had the tears coming out of my eyes!  (...but I told her I would be with her utnil she fell asleep!!!)  Everything went fine and within 45 minutes she was in the recovery room.  Then within another hour we were on our way out the door.  She felt fine yesterday, with the anesthesia still hanging on.  Today, though, she has seemed quite sore.  "Why does it hurt when they fixed my bump?"

We actually even have pitures of our trip to the hospital since Jenna wanted to make sure she could tell her sisters all about her adventure!  So you get a peek too.

Micah had surgery when he was just a year old and I was far more traumatized than he was! LOL! Glad that Jenna came through fine and that you seem to have survived! :)
I tagged you on my blog for a meme. If you haven't done one, it just means that you go to my blog and copy the instructions and then post the instructions and your answers in a blog post. This one is particularly easy - no difficult questions. Give it a try.

So glad Jenna did well with her hospital adventure. I know it was a while ago, so I bet she is running around by now. Yes, these hospital visits whether emergency or planned are quite sobering when they involve our children. Later, when we find it was healable or reparable, we enjoy recounting the stories. Love to you all...Auntie Meg

Ok, kara
