"And Jesus said to them, "Therefore every scribe who has become a disciple of the kingdom of heaven is like a head of a household, who brings out of his treasure things new and old." ~ Matthew 13:52 (NASB)
"Now in a large house there are not only gold and silver vessels, but also vessels of wood and of earthenware, and some to honor and some to dishonor. Therefore, if a man cleanses himself from these things, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work. Now flee from youthful lusts, and pursue righteousness, faith, love {and} peace, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart." ~ 2 Tim 2:20-22
Homeschool Brings FAITH Back Into Education!
Homeschooling by Faith... is believing that God will provide what your children need to learn. Stepping out in Faith, asking Him for a schedule... asking Him what subjects to teach... asking Him what shall my kids learn today...
This week I would you to share how chores are done in your home. How you order your day with school and getting housework done. How do you decide which chores should be done by which child, of which age? I’m looking forward to hearing them!

OUR DUTY ROSTER
Our duty roster includes her daily activities from the time she wakes up until the time she goes to bed. There are many "duties" listed that I do with her side-by-side, as team work.
But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded."

Dec. 4, 2008 - A Meaningful Christ-centered Christmas
Each week in the month of December we will have a weekly Christmas theme posted in our forum (Monday) much like our "Question Of The Week". Each week we will also have a Surprise Giveaway drawn at the end of each weeks theme. Each Friday we will pick a random Lounge Sister from the the comments in the Christmas Theme post. (Click on the logo for a direct link)
Week 1 - Dec. 1st to Dec. 5th
In this day of over commercialism how does your family keep a meaningful and Christ-centered Christmas?
This is my entry:
I am a single mom of two daughters (ages 21 and 12). This is our fourth year of homeschooling. It is very important to us to keep Christ in the center of our education, of our home and in our lives.
One thing I really enjoy is the Advent Calendar. This builds the anticipation of the Birth of Christ in our home. Previously, I have used an advent shaped house that has the 25 mini doors on it, and added Scripture into each one of them with a trinket of some sort inside. But, this year, I found an awesome booklet for kids to use for Advent, along with a parent guide for those who need it. Check it out:
We begin decorating our house the day after Thanksgiving. We make spice ornaments (click for recipe). These ornaments are awesome to throw into a "Gift Basket" of homemade goodies for family and friends.
We have made over 50 Christmas cards to give to troops overseas through Red Cross. (Click here)
One of the most important trait I am instilling in my daughters is TRUTH. About six years ago, the Lord convicted me about lying to my children. He simply asked me, "Why do I expect the truth from them, when I am not truth." Then, He started showing me ways that I had lied to my girls... santa clause, easter bunny, tooth fairy, etc... Also, think about it like this... Here I was telling them all about these non-fictional characters: easter bunny, santa, tooth fairy, etc. and then tell them years later there is none. How can I expect them to believe in God, someone that they can't see either... That hurt! How can they trust me? To read more about how I removed santa, click here.
We still celebrate Christmas!!
On Christmas Eve, we will throw a "Birthday Party for Jesus" and will invite all of our friends and neighbors!
We normally hold the Birthday Party in the afternoon, allowing ample time to go to Candle Light service at church.
Since we live away from our family (1200+ miles away), we always have gifts shipped in from our family. These gifts are opened Christmas Eve night after the Candle Light Service. This allows us to wake up Christmas morning with only three gifts under the tree. The three gifts are the representation of the "Magi Gifts" given to Jesus so many years ago. With no other gifts under the tree, this allows us to focus solely on Jesus!
I read the Christmas Story from the Scriptures. (Click Here).
Then, I read about the Legend of the Magi (click here), and what each one of them represent. As I explain what each gift represents, then I hand that gift to them to hold onto. When we are done, I have them tell me what the gifts mean, and see if they can guess what it could be before opening them. The Magi Gifts are as follows:
Gold
Gold gifts often end up being the most expensive present. Answer this question in mind? Is there something your child is really dreaming about? A gold gift might be the bicycle he is asking for, a CD player he has been saving for, or a piece of jewelry that seems appropriate. As an extra bonus, wrap the present in shiny gold wrapping paper and accent it with beautiful gold ribbons.
Frankincense
In ancient times, frankincense was placed in front of the “Tent of Meeting” to scent the place where God had promised to meet with them. (Exodus 30:34-37). With this in mind, the frankincense gift should correspond with the way God meets with your child. In the pass years, I have given my girls new Bible (engraved with first name only), Christian video, Christian CD, soaking music to bring them into God’s presence during the times of soaking, devotional books, and even a daily journal. As a special touch, wrap this gift in bright white paper representing the sacred white incense that Jesus received.
Myrrh
Myrrh was used to scent anointing oils, perfumes and embalming liquids that are sacred in the embalming process in the ancient times. Today, we can find myrrh added in some soaps, oils and lotions. For the myrrh gift, present your child with something to “anoint” her body. The gifts that my daughters have received have been scented bath soaps, bubble baths, perfume, lotions, shampoos, and even playful bath soaps. To even stretch a little, I prepare a myrrh basket that may consist of not only the pre-mention things but house slippers, night gown, bath robe, combs, brushes, toothbrush, etc. (items needed for their bodies). In today’s world, if you look hard enough, you might be able to find something made of myrrh. For an added bonus, I wrap this gift with earth-toned paper.
To read more about the symbolic meanings behind each of the gifts, click here.
A couple of years ago, my sister bought me a set of the Magi Gifts from the REAL Holy Land (not in Orlando). These gifts are in a beautiful cherry box. It sits under our tree and as we talk about what each gift is, we pass the bottles around to smell the aroma of the frankincense and the myrrh, and bottle of gold chips floating in liquid to see the gifts given to the King of kings and the Lord of lords. What better way for God to show my daughters that they are indeed princess', an heir to the throne.

This week it’s seriously going to be just fun. This week share your favourite candies. I know from being on the HSBA Post team that Sprittibee and Dawn love gummy-bears, and maybe Bunny too. Have fun with this… and you’re welcome to post a photo of YOU eating your favourite candy. Haha!
God’s Word is also like sweetness to our souls. His sweet love, forgiveness, comfort, peace, and more is what makes our lives seem a little more bearable when things get rough. Whenever you eat your sweet piece of goodness remember that God loves you and will always be there when life seems sour.
Share a scripture for this week as well. One that lifts you up when you’re feeling discouraged.

My favorite candy.... can only be obtained a certain time of year. It is The Ribbon Candy!
My Scripture that helps me when I get discouraged:
"I can do all things throughHim who strengthens me." Phil. 4:13 (NASB)

I found a new meme online yesterday that I feel will be a lot of fun to do! Won't join us?
THEME:
This week I’d like to invite you to share what YOUR “Mom” help is. Some drink coffee, soda, or chia-tea. Others check email or read their favorite blogs. Some talk a walk…. what do you do when you need to clear your head and take a breather?
One thing that I do to clear my head is soaking in the presence of God. Around 2 PM, my daughter and I grab a pillow, lay on our mats, put on some praise instrumental music, and rest in the Lord.
Keep our thoughts captive (2Cr 10:5) is always easy to do.
Soaking is the only way that I can calm myself down from the busyness of a single-homeschool mom life and a way that the Lord softens my heart with His Love.
Scripture Share:
"See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ." ~ Colossians 2:8 NASB

I am thankful today for guest speakers! We had a powerful speaker today at Church. His name is . I tell you he was on fire for the Lord! He spoke when he was so tired of "playing church" that he locked himself into a room and told God he wasn't coming out until He meet Him. He spoke of several things that happened during this. He said He told God, that he wanted to be Enoch, just to be friends with the Lord.
Ladies, this really touched my heart because a few weeks back I mentioned in one of my tags... that I, too, wanted to be like Enoch. So my ears were tuned into this speaker! He shared with us the different levels of intimacy that we can have with God. My heart raced out of excitement! This is what I want. I long for this kind of relationship but am reluctant of what I have to give up.... you know,my fleshy desires. Things that would be hard for anyone else to give up. The question I need to ask myself, "is it worth it?"
I am still digesting many of the things that he spoke of. At the end of the service, he asked everyone who had God had given their own business to come to the front. He prayered and annointed each one of us. When he touched my hands, it was like the power of the Living God swept through me, s-w-o-o-s-h leaving only goosebumps behind. Then, we all went to sit down. Then, he said those of you who fell that God is calling to write for Him to come up. I went back up front. He went through and prayed for us again. This time he came to me and laid his hand on my head and prayed, my right arm began to tingle. The Lord annointed my right arm to write for Him!!
I am excited to see what the Lord is going to do!!

Today, I am thankful for Beth. I pray for her when the Lord leads me to. She is in a hard situation, but through it all, you can tell she has a big heart. Today, she sent this via email a few minutes ago; I thought of you and I had to share!
WET PANTS
Come with me to a third grade classroom..... There is a nine-year-old kid sitting at his desk and all of a sudden, there is a puddle between his feet and the front of his pants are wet. He thinks his heart is going to stop because he cannot possibly imagine how this has happened. It's never happened before, and he knows that when the boys find out he will never hear the end of it. When the girls find out, they'll never speak to him again as long as he lives.
The boy believes his heart is going to stop; he puts his head down and prays this prayer, "Dear God, this is an emergency! I need help now! Five minutes from now I'm dead meat."
He looks up from his prayer and here comes the teacher with a look in her eyes that says he has been discovered.
As the teacher is walking toward him, a classmate named Susie is carrying a goldfish bowl that is filled with water. Susie trips in front of the teacher and inexplicably dumps the bowl of water in the boy's lap.
The boy pretends to be angry, but all the while is saying to himself, "Thank you, Lord! Thank you, Lord!"
Now all of a sudden, instead of being the object of ridicule, the boy is the object of sympathy. The teacher rushes him downstairs and gives him gym shorts to put on while his pants dry out. All the other children are on their hands and knees cleaning up around his desk. The sympathy is wonderful. But as life would have it, the ridicule that should have been his has been transferred to someone else - Susie.
She tries to help, but they tell her to get out. You've done enough, you klutz!"
Finally, at the end of the day, as they are waiting for the bus, the boy walks over to Susie and whispers, "You did that on purpose, didn't you?" Susie whispers back, "I wet my pants once too."
May God help us see the opportunities that are always around us to do well?
Remember.....Just going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in your garage makes you a car.
Each and everyone one of us is going through tough times right now, but God is getting ready to bless you in a way that only He can. Keep the faith.
This prayer is powerful, and prayer is one of the best gifts we receive. There is no cost but a lot of rewards. Let's continue to pray for one another.
The Prayer:
Father, I ask You to bless my friends, relatives and those that I care deeply for, who are reading this right now. Show them a new revelation of Your love and power. Holy Spirit, I ask You to minister to their spirit at this very moment. Where there is pain, give them Your peace and mercy. Where there is self-doubt, release a renewed confidence through Your grace. Where there is need, I ask you to fulfill their needs. Bless their homes, families, finances, their goings and their comings. Amen.

Today, I am thankful for the flowers and the trees...
We went on another nature walk today! The most beautiful weather we could ask for. It wasn't too hot, and it wasn't too cold for us, but it was perfect!

Today’s story is written with much thanksgiving in my heart!
I am going be a great aunt!! I am so excited that I am going to be a “Great Aunt” before I become a grandma!! To me, carrying the title of grandma, comes with age, and frankly my dear, I am way-to-young to be a grandma!! So I praise God for this!! YEAH!!!
My nephew got married!!! So, without further ado….
Ladies and gentlemen….
I am proud to present to you Mr. and Mrs. Bryant James Hanson!!!
When I seen that my sister (in the middle) was at the wedding, it enlightened my heart. I was filled with joy deeply to know that the happy couple didn't go off and elope. Praise God the family was invited!!
Then, I flipped to the next picture..... WOW..... there was Jordan!! He is Kim's husband, the step-father of my nephew. However, since my nephews real dad passed away many years ago, Gordan has filled the shoes as being dad!
Today, I am giving thanks to the Lord for orchestrating my sister and brother-in-law to be at my nephews wedding!
Right now, I just want to pray a hedge of protection around this mariage, and around this family. Father God. I know you are in the restoration business, and I ask you Lord to restore the mom/dad/son relationship as you would have it. Open those doors for each of them to able to love each. Allow Kim and Jordan be the great example of a husband-wife team that my nephew and new wife can see. Father, I pray that the vows spoken to each other and to YOU this day, that you will burn it upon their hearts so that they never forget the promise they have made this day. I pray this in Jesus name, AMEN.

Today, I just want to thank the Lord for bringing Godly people into our lives! I praise you Lord for caring enough about us to set up networks of good godly Christians in my life!
Today, we began sewing lessons at Joanne's Fabric. Yes, we are taking beginning lessons! The instructor (which happenes to be a temporary for this session) is a Christian! We were to begin classes on Saturday but couldn't because of rehearsal for Christmas padgeant so they offered to start up another class on Monday nights.
The lady was very nice to my daughter as she was teaching her the basics of the sewing machine. It was great!!

I thank you Lord for the fellowship that you have brought my way!!
I attend a church, as mentioned in my previous blog, that is a "gift from God!" It is "my home." The church is approx. 300+ people. The Sunday night service is held in "small groups" in several houses in the area. Tonight, we came together and had Thanksgiving Dinner in Honor of Him!
Fellowship was wondering. Discussing the Sunday morning sermon and what it meant only deepens the Word within my heart as the understanding comes about. I have met many good women in this Church! In fact, I have one older lady, that my daughter struck up a conversation with I was in choir practice last week, the would absolutely wants to teach my daughter knitting!

Today, I am recognizing God as the Creator of the Universe!!
"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." ~ Genesis 1:1
I am most thankful for the Lord bringing me a family that is like-minded to do Creation studies with. Last week, we began Exploring Creation with Zoology 2 and then this week, we went to the park and pick wild flowers to press and done a nature study together (CM Style). We had a wonderful time together!!
Abba Father, I thank you for bringing this family back into our lives. I thank you for bringing us another wonderful in the park with You, Lord. I ask you to give our new founded friends the Grace, Honor and Blessings as they seek You as their Lord and Master. Clothe them with your Righteousness. I pray this in Jesus name. Amen.

I am doing mine a little differen though. I am being thankful while recognizing one of God's attributes. Throughout the Bible you can find His attributes rolled up in His name most of the time!!
Today, I am giving thanksgiving and praies to my Lord for being my Friend!
What is a Friend? A friend is someone who:
Believes in you,
Encourages you,
Accepts who just the way you are!
Trustworthy
Having forgiveness toward you when you wronged Him
Never leaves you, nor forsake you
Brings laughter into your life
Who longs to be with you
I can say that Jesus is my Friend!! Jesus wants to be this way with you as well. He isn't some far away God. He is real! He wants to spend time with you. He wants to your Friend too.... won't you be His?
"I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more." ~ Luke 12:4

Until Thanksgiving, I am making a point to be thankful in all things, every day!
“In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” ~ 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NKJV)
Won’t you join me in “Giving Thanks Every Day”?
What I doing is a little different than most. Each day, I am going to find an attribute of my God and thank Him for it. Searching the Bible, you can find many of God’s attributes in His names.
Today, I am thankful for my Lord as my Provider. I have to say, whenever I have a NEED, He comes through. He is Faithful even when I am not. Thank you, Jesus, for loving me!
I am thankful for the new Home Church that we are attending! God transplanted me from Boca Raton, Florida to this small town, Summerfield, then we moved into a brand new house within 10 miles to a small town called "Lady Lake." Since February of 2006, we searched, and searched for a Church. I was so desperate in finding a Home that I visited any that I was invited to.... praying that one might be it. July of this year, I went to Indiana for a much needed vacation. I really miss my family! I decided then, there was nothing in Florida for me. Nothing to keep me there, so why stay?
I was very thirsty wandering in the desert! My heart cried to God for a Home, but from the beginning He had told me that I needed to learned to drink after Him, thirst only for Him and not His messengers. God showed me a lot during this time! He showed me HOW to eat, drink and sleep Him. What I missed the most during this time was 'corporate worship'. You see, I love to sing! I love to worship Him. Yes, we worship in our home, but there is a difference between that and corporate worship! My heart yearned for worship! My heart yearned to make new friends!
Within three weeks of returning from vacation Aug of 2007, my daughter was invited to join another homeschooler at VBS. So, we went. The funny thing is, the girl that invited us, didn't go to that Church. Someone else had invited her too. I walked into VBS and sat in the back (remembering when I use the worship leader for VBS and Kid's Church). The theme for the week was "The Full Armour of God" where they took a piece each day and taught the kids about the armour and how important it is to have on everyday. By Friday, the kids had learned a song with motions to put on each piece of the Armour!
When I first walked into that building, the presence of the Lord was os strong their! I was amazed... I felt Him.... a feeling I hadn't felt in a long time! My heart began to cry, because I knew my Shepards voice! I knew He was their! I meet my divine appointment. As tears came down my face, I told my daughter... "This is our home"... "We found it!"
Since then, I have missed only one service. I sing in the choir Sunday morning, do the Home Group Sunday Night and Wednesday night service as well!
Looking back (Hind's site), I was in the desert so when I got to my "Promised Land" I would be faithful, in Serving Him. After my X and I split up, the "church" really hurt me... and I allowed my hurt feelings hinder many things. The year in the desert taught me a lot about myself. I had to do some searching of myself to be able to walk out to the otherside. The biggest thing was forgiveness to ALL those who was involved.
My Lord is AWESOME!!!

EQUIPPING THE NEXT GENERATION
To reach the children of this generation with the true power of the living God to satisfy their natural hunger for the supernatural life before the enemy gives them a false satisfaction of being lovers of pleasure and not lovers of God.
"Tell your children about it, let your children tell their children." Joel 1:3.
