"And Jesus said to them, "Therefore every scribe who has become a disciple of the kingdom of heaven is like a head of a household, who brings out of his treasure things new and old." ~ Matthew 13:52 (NASB)
"Now in a large house there are not only gold and silver vessels, but also vessels of wood and of earthenware, and some to honor and some to dishonor. Therefore, if a man cleanses himself from these things, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work. Now flee from youthful lusts, and pursue righteousness, faith, love {and} peace, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart." ~ 2 Tim 2:20-22

I haven't abandon my blog! It's just that my Lord has me to right now in a position that I MUST remain quiet!
Exodus 14:14
The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.
Psalm 27:14
Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.
Psalm 37:7
Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.
and my favorite:
Psalm 46:10
Be still and know that I am God.
So just know during this time, I am sitting at His feet, waiting upon Him. He is filling me with what I need and that is more of Him.... less of me.
May the Lord bless you enrichly!!

I know there is a time for laughing and joking, a time for silliness, and time for goofiness. But there is also time for touching each others heart. I have a vision seeing my family sitting at the dinner table discussing things together, you know REAL stuff!
There are days that my brain is unable to function. There are days that I am mentally exhausted from homeschooling while I am working can be challenging, very challenging. However, the Lord is refreshing me because He is giving me a taste of how my efforts are being paid off by showing me good things in my daughter while she interacts with others. This is a GREAT reward for me! At times, I get off on rabbit trails, so I apologize.
Back on track... our family have had great family dinner conversation together and then there are days that we sit quietly looking at each other because we are all too exhausted. For those exhausting days, I purpose that you put on some soaking music, or classical musical piece you are listening to that week.
At times, I need help to get the conversation going. This is what I am wanting to share in this post. I want to share some questions that are "excellent dinner conversation" with your family.
What makes a good friend?
Tell me about the last dream you remember. (This is a good time to make it is written in the your Bible notebook. Also, ask the Lord for the meaning of the dream. I believe God speaks to us through dreams as He did in the Bible so many years ago)
What is God saying to you today?
What are you thankful for today?
Has God shown you a bad habit that we should be working on?
If you have already tried these questions or for FRESH questions that are applicable to your own family situation then pray and ask the Lord to anoint your lips for dinner-time conversation.
I would suggest any question that you ask to start the conversation would be a good time to speak about Biblical principles pertaining to that subject. This is what Duet speaks of us to do.
When conversation stops rolling, then I ask the Holy Spirit what I should share. Normally, it will be a story that happened while as a little girl. I always bring God into the story as I preceived Him to be their. These stories are what REALLY gets my girls and I drawn into one another. I always ask if the girls can relate to the story and then it is their turn to share what is one their mind.
On the long trip from Ohio to Florida, we were actually playing the alphabet games of animals, food, names, places, and then we done Bible. We had so much fun doing the Biblical alphabets. At the end, my 12 year old goes, "WOW mom!! I didn't know that I knew that much about the Bible!"
The game we played was that each of us had to come up with a "Biblical principal/statement" that can be found in the Bible. We had more fun with the Bible alphabets than the other various games we played!
Oh darn, that was another rabbit trial! I am believing there is a reader who needs this information hence the reason I wrote it....

My oldest daughter went to an empty house to look at it. While she was the land lady told her that the previous tenants actually moved out three days prior. In the yard was a baby rabbit. She called me and asked if she could bring it home for us to take care of she it looked very sickly.
I brought the rabbit home and found out she was blind. The little bunny was blind due to malnutrition. I pumped her full of natural items, and within a month later, she is now able to see. The cloudiness in her eyes are almost gone. Praise God!!
Tori (age 12) is so excited because this little bunny is so very friendly. My daughter wants to enter her into the 4-H fair. As I was searching the internet to find a bunny vet in our area, I came across this bunny rabbit.
Enjoy this funny video!

I want to share with you about this great place to get homeschool t-shirts. Two years ago, I purchased 5 homeschool t-shirts for my daughter. Just last month I noticed that on one of them the design is peeling off.... that's after two years and many wearings!
Now, that's being thrifty! You know, getting the worth of the cost of the t-shirt! To be totally honest with you, I purchased them on sale for $5 or $6 a piece, on sale.
My daughter and I was talking about getting her a few more new ones, but I couldn't remember where I got them. Today, I checked my email and there was a message from "Great Homeschool T-shirts." They are having a 50% sale on their items from Nov. 30 to Dec. 15th.
Don't miss this sale!

For Thanksgiving, Victoria made two batches of yeast rolls. She measured all the ingredients and put them into the bread machine. She set the dial and watched until the kneading and the rising was complete (before the baking process), and pulled the dough out. She took the dough and rolled it into balls to make rolls.
Here is the recipe that she used:
1 cup water
2 tablespoon melted butter
1 egg
3 1/2 cups bread flour
1/4 c. sugar
1 tsp salt
3 tsp yeast
Steps taken:
Place all the ingredients into bread machine in order as written above.
After dough cycles completes, remove and shape as rolls, placing them in a lightly greased pan.
Let it rise 30 minutes.
Brush the tops with butter prior to baking.
Bake 20 to 25 minutes at 350 degrees until golden brown.
Brush the tops with honey butter and serve!
These rolls taste like the ones you get at Grandy's or Quincy's, etc. They are nice soft squishy yeast roll, perfect for any meal!

Aug. 8, 2008 - “Bless Your Children Everyday” Book recommendation
"Bless Your Children Everyday"
This book was recommended to me from another mom who blessed her two children everyday. She spoke praises of the difference she had seen within her own family. I went online and found this book used at Amazon for next to nothing. It is one of those books where the shipping cost more than the book. Don’t let that discourage you as this book is well worth it!!
This profound little book includes 49 individual “blessings” taken directly from scripture. This book is in compact form therefore it is very easily can be left on your breakfast table and pray blessings upon your children every morning while they are sitting down to eat. The prayers are already written out for you, all you need to do is speak the word. God promises He will perform His Word.
“So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.” ~ Isaiah 55:11 (NASB)

Nov. 23, 2007 - Making Memories - Building Strong Families
Sharing time together is a requirement for building a stronger family life centered on Christ. Moses decreed Israel: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up" (Deuteronomy 6:5-8). Moses' unchanging counsel is the foundation for Biblical spirituality in the home. Spending time together is the connection that brings us together before God. It is during this time that we are making memories with our children.
Deuteronomy repetitively highlights the need for parents to vigorously "love" God, to avoid another lost generation as in the Israelites wandering in the wilderness (Deuteronomy 10:12 - 11:32). For God to be first in our lives His will must not only be discussed frequently but application must be taken in our daily home life. This action will put God first in our lives. What we truly, whole-heartedly love will become evident in our priorities, how we use our time and what we talk about.
To communicate the precedence of loving God, we must spend time together. The daily "family hour" needs to be kept in homes that glorify God. Being a single-parent sole provider really challenges me in finding the time for “Family hour.” However, I realize that family traditions and shared activities need to be established and kept. Working at such togetherness can be memorable and enjoyable!
Let us look at how we can incorporate family time together through out our day! In Deuteronomy 6, Moses insisted on us to discuss God's will “when you sit in your house.” A way to do this is:
having a family meal time together;
by thanking god for our blessings (1 Timothy 4:4-5);
by praying for our needs and cares (Philippians 4:6); or
having family prayer.
These four suggestions only affirm that God is the most important priority in our lives.
While driving to and fro… or while exercising by walking around the block together are opportunities that Moses’ was speaking of when he said we should teach our children “When you walk by the way.”
"When you lie down." To me, this indicates our bedtime. Different ways to communicate that God is our first priority is by kissing your children goodnight, tucking them in bed at night, praying with them, discussing the events of the day, or by reading them a parable or a bedtime story.
When Moses’ instructed us to teach them to our children “when you rise up" indicates that we should start our day off with God. Before breakfast, read and explain a daily devotion. This is a great time to introduce the daily Bible verse for Scripture memory. For instance, Proverbs 9:10, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.”
As Bible reading becomes a part of the family routine together, you then become more comfortable in discussing the practical, specific applications of Scripture in the home. I challenge you today to begin to spend time with your children, outside of school so they can see and know first-hand your relationship with the Lord.

Sep. 17, 2007 - A place for everything and everything has its place
I have seen over the last month many post about classrooms in the home. What is disturbing to me is several that I saw were ladies stressing out over the fact they didn't have a "good" place for their children to "sit" for schooling. The more I think of this issue the more I am compelled to write this post.
I know several families who don't have a dedicated "room" just for schooling. But, I know of someone who strongly believes that a “special” room just for homeschooling is a must! You know the theory… “A place for everything and everything has its place.” Rather you have a dedicated room or not, being able to school our children at home is a privilege in this country. Ladies, we have freedom! Rather you school in a two-story house or an efficiency apartment, or the picnic table at the park because you lost your house in a fire, God will make a way! Don't be so distracted over a "classroom" that you miss an opportunity of an object lesson to be able to teach your children a little bit more of the Lord.
"Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up." (Deuteronomy 6:7 NASB)
In my home, our spare bedroom was our homeschool room! However, when I chose to step out into faith and bring my office into my home (where I belong, in my opinion) I turned the homeschool room into an office. Therefore, I “set up” our school room in our dining room. Only having two usable walls, one side holds a wall time line and on the other side holds a white board for teaching. My walls around the white board are filled with pictures colored by my daughter of items that will be covered this school year. This year we are beginning our year with the book of Acts and have progressed nicely thus far!
The dining room table is the desk. The couch is used for our “read togethers”, and her bed is used for her individual reading time. Our living room floor is great for puzzles, games and movie time!
As far as book shelves go, I have stackable crates (similar to milk crates) along one wall in my office. These crates holds books and things that I have picked up used from book sales, yard sales and other inexpensive outlets. These items will be used to enhance our studies for this year.
A classroom is a place to organize your school materials!! It doesn’t matter what part of the house it is in!! But, it is always best to keep everything together in an organized manner! Being organized is a must in homeschooling!
When I moved, and wasn’t quite set up yet, I felt so lost being unorganized. I didn’t know what I was doing one day to the next! So I am a firm believer that organization is one of the keys needed for a “happy living”, that is after you have accepted Jesus into your heart.
Anyone walking into our home will automatically know that we are “homeschooolers”. For that matter, anyone walking into our home will know that we are Jesus Lovers!!
I pray ladies that it would be everyones heart desire to stay focus upon our Lord more as each day passes. If we keep our eyes focused on Him, then all others things will begin to line up for us. He will do it for us!!
I love reading your comments. They are so encouraging. Your comments allow me to get to know you better and feel a sense of relationship. Please remember to use your manners. EQUIPPING THE NEXT GENERATION
To reach the children of this generation with the true power of the living God to satisfy their natural hunger for the supernatural life before the enemy gives them a false satisfaction of being lovers of pleasure and not lovers of God.
"Tell your children about it, let your children tell their children." Joel 1:3.
