Here I Am

Well, here I am.  I have been asked many times by my loving and talented husband whether or not I wanted to start a blog.  In fact, he has continually urged me to do so.  Within the last month, he set up a blog for my daughter, and now she has joined in the begging for me to have my own blog, as well  This morning, when I told him that I almost got up last night to write, he instantly took the initiative and set me up.

When I broke the news to my daugher that Daddy had set up a blog for me, she sighed in awe and covered her mouth with great surprise.  She even said it was her birthday wish (it's a ways away if that says anything)!

My greatest hesitation in starting a blog has been the time committment.  It seems life is already so crazy that to sit down and take the time to write seems extrememly difficult.  We were at the library last night and one lady commented to me that we were a reading family because of how many books we carried out.  It dawned on me that the 3 year old had ten books and everyone else had about 15 books each.  I got none.  It seems reading is also up the same alley of finding the right time.  Whenever I do try it, my eyes start to cross because I get so tired.  Yet my kids devour books like there is no tomorrow.  My daugher recently read all 5 books of the AD Chronicles by Brock & Bode Thoene in 11 days.  Book one is still sitting on my nightstand hoping to be read by yours truly.

All that to say, I will give this blog thing a shot, since I know it can also be an uplifting and encouraging  experience in more ways than one.   It will probably help me to process some of my many thoughts, but also open a new avenue of support.

Bear with me, my eyes are already starting to cross ....

Well, welcome to HSB. You will find that you get faster at writing as you practice. It really is quite a nice way to share your thoughts. My favorite part of blogging is that it forces me to clarify my thoughts so that others find them intelligible. It helps me to defend my faith.

Have fun finding your voice in the wonderful land of blog ~

I blog at night, after the kids are in bed and my husband is usually working the evening shift as a nurse. I am more awake at night so this works for me. I tend to dose off while I am reading out loud to my kids. They shake my elbow when they hear my voice start to trail off. I hope you enjoy writing on your blog. I agree with the above comment - blogging is a good way to clarify your thoughts. It's also a great support to find so many other homeschool moms to learn from and share with. Have a good weekend!

I blog and draw because I'm JUST beginning to learn that it is important to express my creativity to avoid burning out with homeschooling. You know what they say, "If momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy!"

Welcome to blog land ;) I dont have much time either but I blog when I can or when I feel God leading me to post something. I love to read your husbands blogs and am sure I will love to read yours as well :) We were recently in VA for my sisters wedding and missed the big snow storm but loved seeing pics on HSB of home and all the snow, it was of course all gone by the time we returned! Enjoy your time on here and be careful with the addiction ;) LOL

Blogging has been a wonderful outlet for me. Amidst all the busyness during the day it gives me a chance to get away for a bit and relax. I usually blog in the early morning, or late evenings. If I get a chance to during the day, it's when the kids are occupied with a craft or something that I can walk away from for a few minutes.

Have fun blogging!

Welocme Karen to the HSB blogosphere. It is a wonderful place and I hope you enjoy for as long as God has you here. Yes, it takes time. IT seems to have over taken any other hobbies I have. But I am a night owl and my husband goes to bed early, so that is when I do most of my blogging. Now i will have to tell you that the actual writing isn't what takes so much time. It is getting involved with other peoples blogs. I sometimes spend more time reading other blogs than writing on my own blog. So if you can keep the ones you read to a minimum, then you will be fine. THe problem is that there are so many great blogs out there and wonderful people. I have met some great people all over and have been encouraged greatly. I guess blogging a two part effort. Beind encouraged and encouraging others.
Anyways, have fun!

don't cross your eyes too much. Blogging can be fun, and it's a good way to get yourself thinking about stuff. use it though, as you wish, and only as much as you want to. :)

The one good thing is there is no wrong way to blog. Once a day, once a month. Blogging is a great way to meet like-minded friends. And a great way to get your thoughts together.

God bless,
Christine

Hooray! Welcome to HSB Karen!!!

I'm am right with you on the book thing. While I absolutely LOVE to read, I just don't have the time. Even now as I'm reading a few blogs, I should be folding laundry. But I will tell you one thing, I have found such great friends, support, encouragement and fantastic ideas here! And always a good laugh when I need one!

Just remember that you don't have to write every day...just whenever the mood strikes you. For me, it has been a great way to document the little (and big things) that have happened in our family, homeschool and with the kids. My family and a few friends also keep tabs on our happenings and get to see pics of the kids. It's just easier for me to write and for everyone to check it out when they have time. After all, where else can you "talk" to friends at all hours of the day and night?

Anyway, I look forward to getting to know you better-- even if it's just a little snippet here and there.

God bless you,
Marsha
