An Interesting Bible Study

Before I start, I want to first warn that this could mean absolutely NOTHING.  However, we are called to be watchmen so, here goes...

This morning I was listening to FOX news when the President began speaking live (again!) on the issue of health care in the United States. It was all blah, blah, blah as I went about my morning chores until he made this strange statement having nothing to do with health care:

'The stars are aligned . . . . We've got to get it done this year.'

Look this up at the Chicago Tribune: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-obama-health14-2009may14,0,1444235.story

Isn't that weird to say while speaking about health care??

This comment prompted me to find out what God's Word says about stars:

Gen. 1:14  "And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:"

I decided to research the Lords handiwork in the heavens this month and here is what I found for May 8-15, 2009:

Easy to swallow
This week’s naked-eye object is an asterism called the Lozenge. Amateur astronomers also know it as the Head of Draco. Draco is the eighth-largest constellation. It winds between the Big and Little Dippers halfway around the North Celestial Pole...

Hydra hides a globular
This week’s small telescope target is globular cluster NGC 5694 in the constellation Hydra. English astronomer Sir William Herschel discovered it in 1784, but it wasn’t until 1932 that astronomers identified it as a globular cluster....

Catch a nice spiral in Leo

NGC 3521This week’s deep-sky object is spiral galaxy NGC 3521 in the constellation Leo the Lion. Because this object lies just 28 million light-years away, it appears bright and detailed..

If you want to read it all, go to:

For those of you who do not own a Companion Bible or Dr. Bullinger's 'Witness of the Stars', here is what it says about these particular stars and constellations:

Draco --  The dragon cast down

Hydra --  The Old Serpent; also a multi headed serpent

Leo -- The Lion, Messiah's consummated triumph but also, in the Zodiac of Denderah it is Pi Mentikeon= the pouring ot of Divine wrath.

Dr. Bullinger writes in appendix 12 of the Companion Bible, "Not only are the stars made for signs ('othoth, from the root 'athah = to come), but for Seasons. These are not the four seasons of the year, but Cycles of time. The figure Polysyndeton (see Ap. 6) in Genesis 1:4 emphasises this: "and for seasons, and for days, and years". The word means appointed times. (Cp. Gen 17.21; 18.14; 21.2) Thus the sun, moon and stars are for "signs" (things to come), and for "seasons" (appointed times)."

All this to say, be watchful as we are in the first month of the time of the locust, which is May through September every year.  Rev. 3:3, "If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee."  If you have not read my piece on Obama (Something to Chew On, below)announcing his candidacy for president just prior to the 17 yr. locust of Chicago, Ill., please do so and then follow up with biblical research on the topics of locust and the stars using a Strong's Concordance.

Please understand, I'm not trying to set any dates it's just very interesting and the sharing of this could spark some wonderful bible study moments with your spouse, extended family, and friends over a wonderful pot of coffee or tea...  There is so much joy to be found in our Fathers Word!

HUGS and Abundant blessings on your studies of His Word,

Kathryn

Hi Kathryn,
I was surprised to click over here this morning and you're back! Last September I deleted my blog as I felt that I was spending too much time on the computer. After a couple of months without it and with a new determination to show more self control, I started it up again in November. I had assumed that you were gone since I wasn't seeing much activity here and have checked back now and again so you can imagine my surprise when I saw all this this morning. I'm so glad you're back at it. I noticed your garden beds in one of your earlier posts. I think it's great you got one in. The constant rains have kept me from doing so and I'm trying not to be frustrated but thank God in all things. We had such a severe drought several years ago and I guess a little too much rain is better than none at all. There's always the fall garden to look forward to :-).
I'm glad you're back!

I enjoyed our post and read below about the one you referred to (Obama, locusts). I never thought or heard about all of this. Very interesting and intriguing!
