Apr. 18, 2008 - How does it DO that???

We relived my childhood made shrinky dinks today.  Remember those?  If you do, you're as old as me!!!

Come on...you remember!

We traced the pictures out of coloring books and colored with pencils.
Here they are pre-shrunk

Then comes the FUN part.  Good thing our oven has a window!

and TADA!

Now I suppose a great homeschool mom would have added
math to this by figuring out how much they shrunk and what
percentage etc.
Or added in science by figuring out just  how that  happened
and what the properties of certain plastics are etc.
But nope!
Just a fun craft.
Hey, they at least count as art.

I do remember shrinky dinks- they are so amazing! I did them once with my kids (and grandma) but hope to redo them soon. We like to add a hole before cooking then you can make them into necklaces. The best is to use them as pendants and add beads. They are great gifts to friends and loved ones that will love wearing it just because the kids made them!
Thanks for sharing!

I remember Shrinky Dinks! Haven't seen those things in ages but I'm going to see if JoAnn's carries them. Bet my daughter would love that!

Yes, I remember Shrinky Dinks, although I hadn't thought of them in years. Wow, I wonder if Rainbow Resource carries them. Thanks for a neat idea! Blessings, Julie
