Summer Savings Marathon Entry 1

I am taking advantage of Vons Summer Saving Marathon. You buy 25 participating products and you get back a $20 Catalina for your next purchase. (You can buy less items and get back less, but I am trying 25 items each time) You can do this once a day for 20 days. Today is day 6 of this Promo. We have done it 4 times and today will be our 5th. Took one day off for my sons 14th B-Day!
Our 1st transaction wasn't so great spent $33.92 out of pocket but got my $20 Catalina now for future purchase.
2nd transaction really wasn't great either, paid 23.26 out of pocket, but checked receipt since it was higher than I expected and sure enough 2 of my coupons did not double and my cereal coupon did not come off. so I was refunded $5.29.
Our 3rd transaction $21.23 out of pocket, again cereal coupon did not work so I was refunded $4 so really my total was more like $17, starting to sound better.
Now our 4th transaction is our best so far, there were way better coupons in Yesterdays paper to sweeten this deal, plus we are getting the hang of this. (We means my husband and I, we love to do this together)
Here it is: $7.10 out of pocket

Here is what we did:
Mt Olive Pickle snacks $2.50 used .75 off coupon
My Vons doubles so all coupons priced were then doubled!
Trident Gum $1.50 used .75 coupon making it FREE
Chex Mix Snack $1.99 used $1.00 off coupon making this FREE
2 Chicken Helpers at $2.50 each used $1 off 2 coupon
Betty Crocker Frosting $1.50 used .50 off coupon
2 Life Savers Candy Bags $2.59 used BOGO Coupon
Jolly Time Popcorn $1.99 used $1.50 off coupon making it FREE
2 Ragu Sauce $1.79 ea ( I already used all my coupons for these on earlier purchases)
2 Kelloggs Cereals and 2 Poptarts for $6 with VONS coupon found on the front of the weekly ad flyer.
2 6 packs of Bottled Coke for $3 plus CRV with VONS coupon from Ad Flyer
Barilla Penne Pasta $1.49 (I had a .50 coupon that was expired but they wouldn't take it, the day before I had no problem using it, it is amazing how much difference a cashier can make!)
Purina Cat Chow $2.00 Had a FREE Coupon so we just threw this into our transaction but it doesn't count towards the 25 because it is not an eligible product.
1 box of Kleenex $1.50 used .50 off coupon from the Insider's Guide Pamphlet that you can find in your store. One of our stores didn't have it but the other store had tons. Grab a few there are lots of coupons inside here.
Electrasol Dishwasher Tabs $3.99 used $2.25 off coupon
Toaster Strudel $2.50 used $1 off coupon
Colgate Advanced Toothpaste $2.99 used $1.50 off coupon
Raid ant and roach killer Spray $2.50 used $1.50 off coupon making it FREE
Marzetti Salad Dressing $3.00 used $1.00 off coupon
Kelloggs Special K Cereal Bars $3.00 used $1.00 off coupon

That would be our 25 items after all coupons manufacturers coupons and $20 Catalina from previous purchase my final Total out of pocket was only $7.10.
I have enough coupons to go do this a couple more times before the prices change. I am also going to look through my coupons and see if I can not find a few better ones to make my next total even lower!
Isn't Saving so Much FUN!!!!

CVS 7/13/08

Our CVS was a little quick and not the greatest today as we were in a hurry and the deals really were not there.
Here is what we did:

We got 3 sally Hansens Nail Polish at .99 each used a CVS coupon and got them all FREE
Banana Boat Lip Balm at $1.99 Used CVS $2 off coupon Got it FREE
CVS Brand Face Towelettes $2.99 used $2 off CVS coupon
added 3 CVS Apple Juices $2 each
2 CVS Brand Pretzels .69 each used CVS Coupon $1 off 2 CVS Pretzels paid .38 for both
I also got 2 baby Bottle Pop Candies for my girls which they ate before I could get a Photo!
I used a $5 off $15 purchase
$3 off $10 CVS Brand Purchase
My total was just over $2 paid with $1.99 in ECB's
Paid .32 on a gift card
and I got back $2 In ECB's
Not A Great week in Products but not bad for Nothing out of pocket!!!

I am going back to do the Photo Books. They are FREE after ECB's so I am excited to be going to make some FREE Christmas Presents! I just need some time to find the Photos I want to use! These will be money makers since I have coupons for These Photo Books, so if you have a chance do not miss these!

Free Used Books

I just started using this service I found, Paperback Swap, I am loving it! I get to get rid of all the books we do not use and exchange them for books need! What a deal!
I just wanted to encourage you to check it out, it is a great inexpensive way to get all those books you have been wanting!

CVS and other deals

I have been trying to figure out how to set up this blog, so please bare with me a while longer!

I am going to list a few of the deals we have done over the last few weeks!

We were getting so many $1 off Absolutely Divine Cookies as well as $3 off $10 CVS Brand purchase that we decided since the cookies went on sale for $1.99 to start using them.

We did multiple transactions Buying 3 or 4 boxes of cookies and a couple of CVS apple juices.

For example lets say we bought 3 boxes of cookies for a total of around $6 then purchased 2 apple juice which was on sale 2 for $5. We now have a total of $11 we would add in another item or 2 to bring our total to $15.

We then used $5 off $15 Purchase

$3 off $10 CVS Brand Purchase

and 3 $1 off Absolutely Divine cookies.

Total after Coupons $4 paid in ECB's

We tried to add an item that was giving back ECB's so that we could keep rolling them. We did the Sobe Life Water quite a few times and used the buy 1 get 1 coupon that was out.Plus you got back $1 for every 2 you bought. So if you added 4 of those and used the BOGO you paid $2 in ECB's and got back $2 in ECB's. Making it all FREE!!!! Not bad HUH... I would say we are well stocked on cookies and juice and we really enjoyed the Sobe Waters!

This next transaction is one of my favorites!

Buy 5 Huggies baby products at $3.49 each

Total of around $17.45

Used $5 off $15

and 5 $1 off Huggies baby coupons

New Total of around $7.45

Paid in ECB's and got back $15 in ECB's

So I made over $7 in ECB's!!!!!

Between My Husband and I We got all of the following items and came out with more ECB's then we went in with. We did multiple transactions each with as close to a $15 totals for each so we could use the $5 off $15 multiple times. Plus all the manufactures coupons making all of this money makers!!!!

I finally found some good deals at our local Vons Grocery store the other day.

I got the following for $15

2 boxes of Honey Bunches of Oats Cereal

5 boxes of PopTarts

2 boxes of YoGo rollers

4 boxes of Nature Valley Gronola Bars

2 jars of Spegetti Sauce

2 bags of Gummy Worms

2 Bags of Lay's Potatoe Chips

and a bag of cat food!

The new thing that we started doing is, now that we have built up our ECB's so well I am working in alot of other items like our Milk and baggies and foil, etc.... Most of our Costco Items we now get FREE! A trip to Costco was easily $300 for our family of 7. Now we hardly go to Costco or if we do it is always under $100! Big Savings Every Month!!!!!!!

The following was 2 transactions again to take advantage of the $3 off $15

So I did just the cereal and granola bars in one and the milk toothbrushes and Green Tea in the other! I just about broke even on all this after ECB's and coupons.

I am loving CVS, I do not know how I ever survived without it!!
