Dec. 30, 2006 - The B-Files
I'm excited to see what the year will hold for us. I've started reading a book by Mary Hunt called, "Debt Proof Living". I really really like it. Last night I asked my husband if I could have complete freedom in following a plan to get us out of debt and into saving money. He agreed. He's not the money manager, anyway. I did agree to give him a huge spending account that would cover his gas, spending money, dental, and band stuff. I'm also full of ideas about saving money in my every day life. I tend to think I'm doing fine, but I'm going to search out and see where I can save the pennies. Then at the end of each month I'm going to put the leftover money into saving and to paying off debts. I know that we just have too much stuff. We have some pretty cool stuff, but way too much of it. We're great at shopping 2nd hand, but I'm going to take it up a notch. I'm on a Freecycle group, but I never ask for anything. I'll give and occasionally respond to something I'd like to get, but I never ask. Right now we need some shelf pegs. I'll measure them and ask if anyone has any extra. I'd like to try to not buy anything new except for the necessities. I'm not going off the deep end here and I'm not going to be super radical about it. My kids won't go shoeless in my quest. I already have the girls' easter dresses. The total for both of them was $7.98. I never thought I'd do the Easter dress thing, but Dusty is so into dressing pretty. I told my husband that I was going to be better about anticipating our needs. For instance, Goodwill is full of fans right now. Who needs a fan when its 32 degrees outside? Well, how about NEEDING a fan when its 90 degrees at night and the air is so stale you can cut it with a knife. I know we need more fans. So, the next time I head to goodwill I'll pick up a fan or two. (Don't all of you run to my local Goodwill and buy them up, okay?) Here's another idea for me. Many time I go to Goodwill and come home with things I never thought I'd need until I saw them. I'm cutting back on that. I'll have a list of the sizes/measurement of my kids and windows on my PDA so that I can quickly figure out what I need. I'll also have a list of the things I'm looking for. And I'll pray. Many many times I've gone in there asking the Lord to provide for something I needed or wanted and He has. I can't think of a time He hasn't provided when I've had a real need.
2007 will bring a year a debt reductions and hip reduction. The biggest loser contest at my gym will start up again soon and I'll be joining that. I've gained a bit since the summer. Actually, its more than a bit. I've started a weight loss blog titled, Dar's Fitness Journey so that I don't clutter this one up with the my mundane struggles of losing weight. I just find it easier to post pictures to Blogger from Picasa. They're like best friends or something. Actually, Google owns both of them so they're forced to be best friends.
Well, my kids need their baths so I better go so I can clean the bathroom while they're in there.
*mulling- my new word for the year

When did you become the blogging queen? I have you on my RSS feed so I've been keeping up with your posts but not commenting. I will pray for you, that the Lord will help you to accomplish all of His goals for you and your family this year. I hope that one of them is coming to see me. :> I will try to call you again soon.

How's are you enjoying the debt reduction book? We have some debt that needs attention. Let me know if you think it's a good one to read : )
I'm also trying to get a home management binder together as part of my new years resolutions. I've started but very slowly. LOL.
Blessings,
