Alone

Posted in family

I'm alone....and I'm hardly EVER alone.  And it's possible that I may not be alone again for about 4-5 years.

My children are in NC spending the week with Pa and Ma (Big D's parents).  Even Indiana Mimi, who is here almost everyday for her lunch break, is gone.  She is visiting Debbles and her family in SC.  Big D is here, of course, but he works all day.  So I'm alone....well, except for Bridget and Baxter and Ripley, who mostly sleep all the time and only pay any attention to me when they want something.

But just because I'm alone doesn't mean that I'm living the life of leisure.  On the contrary, I thought I would write a short post to explain my absence.  I actually won't be on the computer much this week because I'm lost somewhere in here...

That, my friends, is not a ghetto in NYC.  Nor is it the Amazon jungle.  It is our school room.  Or it was.  Our school room is in the process of becoming Harrison's room, and Harrison's room is in the process of becoming the new nursery, which means I'm in the process of losing my mind.  But what else is new?  Before Harrison gets home on Sunday, this room is supposed to be painted in the colors of the NFL TN Titans and organized with all his stuff.  If it isn't, which is highly likely, he will have to pitch himself a tent in the back yard.  All of the stuff you see above is being systematically organized into three piles:  1.  keep (and put somewhere) 2.  Goodwill  3.  trash.  I'm trying to be heavy in the latter two categories.  And let me recommend that it is not easy trying to absorb an entire very full room of stuff into other areas of the house.  It is hard, and it will make your back hurt.  It might make you cry.  It even might make you lie down on the floor and kick your legs like a two year-old. And it won't make any difference if you do any of that because you're alone. I mean I'm alone...er...whatever.  Honestly, at this point, I think it would have been easier to just buy a new house.  I still think it would be easier, but Big D disagrees, and he's pretty much the boss of me.

So, anyway, I just wanted you to know where I am.  I will try to find my way out of that mess to post a Flashback Friday in a few days.  If I don't, you better send out a search party!

I wish you luck. Is there a closet you could turn into the school closet or something? We never had a classroom in our home and letting the house absorb stuff means that I have lost a lot of stuff. I am trying to gather it all into one place now. SO I feel your pain.
BLessings,
Dawn

You're never alone. You have "Peanut." And Peanut is probably the reason why your back hurts. Don't work too hard. We look forward to your return.

Our house has been looking like that too! I just put up a similar post of showing where I have to put next years school stuff so that I can find it while dh builds the wall unit for the schoolroom. I've also been cleaning out my fabric stash and cleaning out the kids' rooms! It's not easy purging stuff, is it? I hope you have a productive week. =)
Blessings,
Laurie

Take lots of water with you into that jungle, and something to suck on (butterscotch drops). Your not alone on your quest. I will be joining you in the schoolroom jungle next week when my three go to Operation Purple camp. Good luck with the organization, and let us see the final makeover.

I've been doing the same kind of purging, but I still have all three kids here and I've added an Indiana Mimi to the mix!

Does that fall under "Nesting"? 'Cause pregnanacy was the times when I felt the need to do those things. Now? Not so much... =/

But you're more than welcome to come over here and straighten away.... =D

Too bad I don't live closer, or I would offer to come and help organize. It's one of the things I like to do.

I hope it goes well! Someday, hopefully, I may actually consider tackling my own to-do list. Maybe. The thought of it gives my hives, though, so who knows?

Been there oh too many times. Look at it this way though, when you are all done you may be able to find what you are looking for. At least for a week or so. LOL Don't work too hard.
