Help for Homeschools from a former one who works at UK admissions
Hello! I came across your email address through a home-school support group contact list and was hoping that you could assist me by providing some information.
My name is Clay Arnold and I am a 2003 graduate of homeschooling! After high school, I spent four great years at the University of Kentucky and now work with the UK Office of Admissions as an Admissions Counselor. I help high school students and their parents decide if the University of Kentucky is right for them and attempt to simplify the admission process as much as possible. Even if a student is not considering UK in his or her college search, I am sure you would agree that exposure to different institutions and what they have to offer can be very beneficial.
That is partly why I am contacting you. As a college admissions counselor, I do not believe that students from home-education programs are given the attention from colleges and universities that they deserve. I have begun to compile a list of home-school contacts from across the state so that in the near future I can organize events geared directly towards these students and families. However, much of the information I have found online appears to be out-of-date. Plus, with such a heavily segmented group, I doubt that I will be able to contact all of the people I would like to… without your help!
If you are homeschooling a high school student, know someone who is, or know of a more appropriate contact, I would truly appreciate a reply from you!
Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you!

Cincinnati Ballet
Dear Homeschool Parents/Organizations,
I am sure you are all beginning to prepare for next year's field trips and outings and I wanted to be sure you are able to include Cincinnati Ballet in your plans. Next year we will be offering two performances of The Nutcracker and one Peter Pan Student Matinee. Please share the attached flyer with outher homeschool parents and groups. If you have the capability to include it in any group newsletters, please do so. If you need the information set up in a different way, please call me and I can get that done for you as well.
I am sure you all know that you can talk about the arts all you want, but the best way to teach children about the arts is to take them to live performances. The only difference between our Student Matinees and the regular shows is that the music is recorded.
The seats you are purchasing would cost $20-$75 if purchased for a regular show.
Call me if you have any questions and remember that the tickets for these two shows will go very quickly!
Thank you for your consideration!
