"It is only by introducing the young
to great literature, drama, and music,
and to the excitement
of great science,
that we open to them
the possibilities
that lie within the human spirit--
enable them to see visions
and dream dreams."

Christ will not be sweet."

"Faith is the bird that feels the light and sings when the dawn is still dark."

"We wish you PEACE
It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble, or hard work.
It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart."

"There are two ways to live your life.
One is as though nothing is a miracle.
The other is as if everything is."

has never danced in the rain."

They must be felt with the heart."

trust the Creator
for all I have not seen."

that is to go that way yourself."

an orchid can enthrall,
But a weed bouquet in a chubby fist--
Oh my, that says it all!

Ralph Waldo Emerson
"Oh the laugh of a child
so wild and free,
Is the merriest sound

said Pooh,
"the smallest things take up
the most room in your heart."
A.A. Milne
"Cleaning and scrubbing
can wait 'til tomorrow.
For babies grow up,
we learn to our sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs!
Dust, go to sleep!
I'm rocking my baby,
and babies don't keep!"

May. 14, 2008 - Spelling City
Have i posted about Spelling City yet? If i have, forgive me, but i think it's worth mentioning again at any rate. I am loving this website. First, it is totally free. This is always a good thing. I go in and enter a list of words...my choice. I am entering two lists a week.....one for each of my older boys. For Cale, i am entering his list from his spelling book (Purposeful Design). For Joe, we go over a new spelling rule or pattern each week using our Phonics Pathways book. Then i enter in ten words from our lesson and any words with which he has had trouble lately and voila! I have his list for the week.
.
Now, here is the cool part.....
The boys can have the website "teach" them the words, they can play games like a word search or hangman with their words on the site, and they can take their test online!!!!!! Yes, really. The site will say the word audibly for them and even use it in a sentence if they request and then they type in each word. It even grades them and they can print out a certificate with their score if they so desire.
So, if you haven't checked it out yet, hop over to SpellingCity.com and see what it's all about.
.
On another note........Baby Will is expected to come home this Friday. He's been at Children's for over a month now. He is doing well with his G-Button and his feedings. Pray for his family to make the transition to having him home and learning how to take care of him properly with his special needs. He will also have to wear some type of harness or brace because he has a hip displacement. His Daddy is having to go out of town quite a bit the next few weeks with work, so pray for his mama as she is suddenly faced with new challenges without her man there.
Oh my, the Lord has used you in my life more than you know. Between the egg substitutes, teaching textbooks and now this. We use Phonics Pathways too, and Paulie has had such a hard time remembering it all. He is so visual, and I've been looking for something on the computer or online that would help supplement what he is learning, but not confuse him by teaching different rules. This site looks great.
Have you registered there or do you just use it each time you go on? I'm trying to find out what the benefits are to actually registering. Thank you so much for telling about this web site. What a blessing. :)
