It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble, or hard work.
It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart."

May. 25, 2009 - Memorial Day
I am sure there are many out there who are tremendously disappointed with all the rain over the past weekend. I know it ruined the plans of quite a number of folks. We didn't have plans, so nothing was ruined. My husband worked today, so we are thankful to be getting some holiday pay in the next paycheck.
I did make some oven fried chicken, mashed potatoes, beans, and strawberry shortcake in honor of the holiday. It was yummy, I tell ya. I've never seen Joy eat so much so fast.
Our pastor preached on Memorial Day yesterday. While he did give the traditional thanks to those who have served our country, he went another direction with his message. He reminded us of all the folk who have been martyred for Christ and the true freedom we have in Him. Hebrews 11 made a good text for his message. Cale was apparently inspired by the message as he was found reading our copy of JesusFreaks today. For those who aren't familiar with it, it is like a modern-day version of Foxe's Book of Martyrs. I am very grateful for the countless men and women who have made that ultimate sacrifice for the gospel. I am also grateful for the many who serve our country past and present.
As for our projects..........
I did accomplish most of what was on my list last week. My cabinets are cleaned out and my garage sale pile is bigger. (You have no idea how many baby bottles I found and my last two babies refused to take bottles)
My laundry piles are much smaller or eliminated.
My garden has been cleared of weeds and I even planted some cucumbers and some flowers.
I did a lot of cooking.
I did not get to the cloth diaper sewing. Part of this is due to my sewing space being in our bedroom and me not wanting to be in there more than necessary due to the mold.
Speaking of the mold.......the plumber did come out. It is NOT a plumbing problem. The insurance adjuster has not come out, but we did talk to her in more depth. She said it was okay to cut out the damaged wallboard and seal it up in plastic until she can come by.....probably next week. So, Rick did that and I am now able to sleep in our bed again after a long week of sleeping with the girls. I can breathe in there! After he cut out the board he was able to see more of what we are dealing with and he thinks that the damage is limited and not as extensive as we feared it might be. So, hopefully, we will be able to just repair the wall (putting up cement board this time) and get new fixtures and be done with it and not have a long, drawn-out, expensive re-do on our hands.
Believe me, I would LOVE to re-do our tiny bathroom, but logistically it is nearly impossible to do that and keep it a full bath. There is simply no room to get a new tub in those little doorways and around tight corners. If it was our "forever" house, we'd re-do and just put a shower with no tub, but we are anticipating moving in the next two years.
As far as my idle time.....I don't think I'll go back to being on the computer so much as I kinda like getting so much done. But, I think some computer time is okay, especially if the children are in bed. I still want to make some diapers and I still want to tackle my backlog of photos and get them in those scrapbooks. So, I'm looking for that balance in accomplishing those goals and doing some things I enjoy.
I am glad the mold looks like a limited problem. We are going back and forth right now on whether our home is a forever home or not. We need another room since we can't mix the girls with Goldilocks special needs. Also, our neighborhood has a lot of drug related crimes and most of the neighborhood kids drive me crazy. We may be hiding in our home as soon as school lets out.
