Jun. 2, 2009 - Garden Fresh

Mmmmm..........that is lettuce growing there and we've been munching on it.  Today I used it to make a taco salad for lunch along with some cilantro I have growing out there.

And let's not forget the tomatoes.  That one is just begging to be plucked and eaten right there.

What of the green tomatoes?  I've already allowed three to get red and ripe, but these two just aren't gonna make it.  They will be on my plate tonight with dinner.  Mmmm...fried green tomatoes.  (Shhhh...that is the real reason I grow tomatoes around here).

For those wanting to know how to make them, go here.   I used olive oil this time and they were fabulous.

Short, this next photo is just for you (no one else is looking right?)  You fussed that there weren't any pics of me in the last slide show.  So, I have gone in and added this one to the batch.  You're welcome

And, yes, that is what I wore to play in the creek.  I didn't intend to get wet much above the waist.  Boy was I wrong, but that would be another story for another day.

Hmmm! Would you share your fried green tomato recipe? I am still growing into being a southerner. LOL! We still have tomato flowers on our vines, no fruit yet.
Blessings,

Oh you are looking wonderful too! When water is involved you will more often than not find me in it.

Your garden looks great too and I have even had fried green tomatoes and they were delicious! I have no idea what it is (possibly that I didn't grow up with it) but cilantro is something I don't like the flavour of. Interesting huh?

We've begun eating garden tomatoes around here, too. YUM! I have the same little hampers that you are carrying toys in. Each room has one for laundry, and I only do laundry that's been brought to the two hampers that live by the washer. Sometimes my job is really easy when they don;t remember to bring their clothes.

Thanks for sharing the picture; you look beautiful!
