Jun. 10, 2009 - Count Your Many Blessings........

Ah, we had our garage sale on Saturday and that is over, though my garage is still full of stuff.

On Sunday, Papaw came to town and stayed for a couple of days to help my sweetie with some big projects.  First, he gifted us with a gazebo........

This was an answer to prayer as I had been coveting really wanting a gazebo for the backyard, though I had never mentioned it to them.  We will have to buy our own mosquito net if we want that...and we do want that.  Arkansas has a lot of mosquitoes.

I love that I can sit there and swing with my sweetie or my little ones and watch the children play.  I have already seen some boys out there reading books, too.  What is it about having a defined space that draws us in?   OK, so the shade is nice and fresh air sans mosquitoes will be really nice!

He also helped us install the new kitchen sink and faucet.  I am totally loving it!  The black composite looks so much better than my old, stained, rusting ivory ceramic-coated sink.  The sink is deeper too and just feels so different.  The faucet on the left is our water purifier.  The little thing on the right side is a soap dispenser.  I think that is the kids' favorite part of the new sink.

The plumber came out on Monday and fixed up the pipes in our shower.  My sweetie got in there and worked today and has the drywall and the marble back up.  Tomorrow we caulk and add the fixtures.  Oh!  That was another blessing............
We got our shower and tub faucets for half price.  We bought an open box that appeared to have all the parts.  It is actually missing a piece, but we called the company and they are sending it to us for free.  It should be here tomorrow.  I'm also gaining a shower head with a water filter built into it.  Yay!

As a benefit of hosting the garage sale, I was able to keep some lawn chairs and a little table that my friend was going to sell.  I am giddy over this.  I was wanting something simple for the front porch and this fits the bill.  The swing was there, but it was really too wide for our narrow porch and it was a bit claustrophobic.  We also gained a new-to-us recliner for the sunroom.  I love free stuff.

And while we're at the free blessings...........one friend had me come over last week and go through a huge tub of clothes for the girls.  I came home with two black trash bags full of "new" clothes for my girls.  They'll have to grow into most of them, so I won't have to buy much the next couple of years.  Then, tonight at church another girl gave me a box of newborn baby clothes for our little Faith.  This is such a blessing since she is being born at a different season than Joy and Hope were.  All of the clothes we have been given this past week are name brands like Gap and Gymboree and they are so cute.

And while we're on the theme of free blessings........isn't it such a blessing to have a good library system in the neighborhood from which we can borrow books for free?  I know we use our library a LOT.  We'll be participating in the summer club activities there and they gave us free tickets to a baseball game and an amusement park.   How cool is that?
Mostly, I love the blessing of seeing my children enjoy reading:

Just counting my many blessings, naming them one-by-one........

I love your new goodies. The sink is beautiful and the gazebo would get lots of good use here too.

Your backyard looks so nice and I love the gazebo! It looks like a good place to spend quality family time.

What a blessing to receive clothes for the girls!

What a good reminder to me to count my blessings as well. It is too easy to get caught up in what we "want" that we forget what we have been given.

Ohhhh what wonderful blessings to receive. I learned from a friend a phrase that I just love. She called them backdoor provisions. Provisions from the Lord that you didn't expect and you needed. I love those kind of provisions the BEST ! Your gazebo is beautiful ! I am praying to get one for our picnic table someday. We love eating outside and I hate being biten by mosquitos !

Sending you blessing and ((HUGS)) my SSiC
