Nov. 23, 2008 - Pet Trauma
Remember our new puppy I mentioned last week ...
Her name is Mercedes ...
yeah, and remember her ear ...
Well, let me tell you what happened ...
It seems we have a very jealous dog named Eli ...

Yep ... Mr. Innocence!
He is a remarkably good dog ... we have several other dogs, and everybody pretty much gets along with everybody else ... until Mercedes came along ...
We came home one day to find blood everywhere! Mercedes ended up in the vet's for 2 weeks! Her pelvic bone and both bones in one back leg were broken ... along with many puncture wounds in her tummy. But that ear? It didn't happen until Mercedes had recovered from all of that ... she was in her kennel/bed and we were all gone. When we got home, we found that Eli had bitten Mercedes' ear thru the cage!!
I think that Eli must feel very threatened ... all of our dogs up to this point have been the same size or smaller than he is. He somehow feels he needs to protect us from Mercedes. We now have to keep a very close eye on him when she is out and about. He is getting better, but I wouldn't trust him if we weren't here! Naughty, naughty boy!
