Dec. 9, 2008 - Christmas Meme
1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Mostly wrapping paper ... too easy to peak with gift bags!
2. Real tree or Artificial? Real tree, complete with sap and needle showers.
3. When do you put up the tree? I like to wait until a weekend that it's snowing, but in Michigan you just never know! So we usually aim for the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The other dealbreaker is whether we can get all the children together.
4. When do you take the tree down? Usually New Year's Day.
5. Do you like eggnog? Nope!
6. Favorite gift received as a child? Probably the year I got a stereo.
7. Hardest person to buy for? My 13yo and 17yo sons.
8. Easiest person to buy for? My 12 yo daughter. She likes (and wants!) everything!
9. Do you have a nativity scene? Yes, we have 2 ... although each of them are missing pieces. So this year we combined them. :o)
10. Mail or email Christmas cards? Mail, if I get around to it. Which is not the past couple of years. Although I still have grand ideas of sending out cute, handmade cards like I did pre-children.
11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? I'm sure there have been some doozies, but due to my inability to keep unimportant (and even important) stuff in my brain for more than 5 minutes, I really can't think of anything specific.
12. Favorite Christmas Movie? It's a Wonderful Life
13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? I start *thinking* about shopping around the first of November, but don't actually start until after Thanksgiving ... and usually finish Christmas Eve day. :o/
14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? Probably, but I can't remember (see #11).
15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? French Silk Pie and homemade fudge.
16. Lights on the tree? As many strings of colored lights that I can possibly fit! with the twinkly ones wound deep into the center of the tree.
17. Favorite Christmas song? Away In a Manger.
18. Travel at Christmas or stay home? We now stay home and everybody comes to us. :o) My in-laws used to host a Christmas brunch, but they have retired that tradition. We do go over to my oldest daughter's home for our Christmas Eve birthday party for Jesus.
19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer's? Ummm ... nope. See #11 regarding my non-existent memory.
20. Angel on the tree top or a star? Angel ... each year a different child gets held up in Daddy's arms to place her on the tree. Although we only have a couple now who need that boost.
21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or Christmas morning? Christmas morning. Our children exchange names among themselves and open those gifts Chrismas Eve. We also give one gift to each of them then also, usually matching hoodies, or pj's.
22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year? Nothing much now, but the stores advertising and decorating for Christmas right after Halloween drives me batty!
23. Favorite ornament theme or color? Snowmen.
24. Favorite for Christmas dinner? Ham, sweet potato pudding, mashed potatoes w/ham gravy, green bean casserole, deviled eggs, 7Up jello salad, french silk pie.
25. What do you want for Christmas this year? Snow. And a KitchenAid.
