Apr. 25, 2008 - National Day of Silence ~ What are YOUR thoughts?

The christian radio stations were encouraging parents to keep their kids home today from public school. It's observed in high school, middle school and in some elementary schools as well.

You can read more about this day by clicking below.

....I don't think that's going to solve any problems, nor do I believe "tolerance" is the answer. I didn't read through the entire website, though. But I wonder how many students are actually taking the day to think about what it was made for as opposed to a "free day off of school to get into trouble".
If the parents would do their duties in raising their children with love, it would probably cut down on a lot of this garbage, huh? It HAS to start in the home.

I called my sister who has her children in public school and her husband is a teacher to ask if she knew anything about this "Day of Silence". Her school district doesn't even have school today, it's a snow make-up day. I don't know if they scheduled it that way on purpose or not.

Apr. 25, 2008 - Dumfounded altogether, but here are some thoughts
Posted by bbullard
I say some because the fact that the gay/lesbian agenda has this type of power and influence in the public school system floors me and scares me. I knew it before now, but as a visual learner, a picture is worth 1000+ words.

I am all for any stance against violence, intimidation, and any action that causes kids to think about their actions and motivations. However, I don't think you can truly take a stand against this enemy without God, and what really needs to happen is to put prayer back in schools. The flesh, on its own, is weak, nasty, and loves to puff itself up, even at the expense of others. So taming it without the aid of the Holy Spirit is near impossible.

The other issue I specifically have with this is the way that this agenda has attached itself to minority civil rights. It is amazing to me that people who are aggressive about gay/lesbian rights have attached themselves to Black men and women as if we're one in the same. Moreover, there are articles everywhere suggesting that we should be most sympathetic to their cause because it is the same battle that we fought for hundreds of years. I'm sorry, NO, it is not, and I absolutely hate seeing racial minorities of any ethnicity pulled into this as if the struggles are the same.

I would have to sort through the rest of my emotions as they are many. This is scary, to say the least.

God bless you, and thanks so much for stopping by.

Actually, those lids for the paint came like that (Elmer's), and I never thought to keep them, but know now that I will! LOL I can just refill them. My kids love to paint - they'd do it everyday if I let them!

I think it's a great idea. I'm outraged by the recent problems that Christians have had at school. It's not "separation of church and state", but separation of Christians expressing the love of their faith. It's another example of Americans going too far. Now, the rights of Christians are being squelched and that's not right and we definitely need to fight for it. That's exactly what we're doing by keeping our kids home.
I am so glad that you stopped by my blog because now I found yours! I wanted to answer your question. We have only lived in Taiwan, Thailand, and now Saudi. We drove through Canada to live in Alaska. We went to Mexico on a vacation. We went to Cambodia, Myanmar, Malaysia, and Bahrain for visa runs. We lived in Taiwan three different times (1 year, then, 6 months each). We loved it and have good friends there. We were missionaries in Thailand for over a year. (We feel like we left family behind there.) Now, we have been in Saudi for 8 months and it is going great. My husband works for a university. He currently gets 2 months paid off every year and we hope to see more of the world this way. We are hoping to spend 2 months in India this summer. (He may get a job in HR and that would change it to two weeks instead.) We feel like we're in the center of the world right now. There is so much of our religious history here and we are excited to find out and see as much as we can.

Sadly, shocking, but I suppose not surprising. Almost everyday I add a reason to my list for why we home school.

I liked reading the article that Keri posted about. I agree with it of course. Truth is always over tolerence and everything of this sin-filled world for that matter. But, of course, those who are for their own agendas, and opposed to God's Truth in His Word and the saving Power of Jesus Christ, may sadly never see that.

If they could only see that through His eyes is where they will see themselves as they Truly are, crystal clear, precious children of a Perfect Creator.

It is a sad day when we have adults rallying for immoral lifestyles let alone kids. Our local schools also took part in this. One child got sick because he didn't eat the whole day. He didn't want to open his mouth and he was on medications that require food.

I asked my daughter about this and she said our local high school (which is supposed to lean toward a Christian slant) did this. (Her friends told her about it.) I was amazed and saddened to find this out. It is a shame what is happening in our country.
But, I have my bird pictures up. We had great fun.

Ugh! I knew about this over a month ago. What a challenging situation to face. As a parent, I'd be wrestling with it pretty seriously. I think in junior high, I'd keep a child home. In high school, we'd be doing some intense preparation for it, and it would be a decision we would come to as a family.

Just another ridiculous humanistic thing the public schools are shoving down children's throats. Hmmm, I wonder why they didn't mention the children that are harrassed and NOT tolerated because of their Christian belief.
I say, if you're not hsing, grab your dc and run don't walk out the door. Now!
Why Christian parents would keep their dc in public school is a mystery to me.

That is sad that there are so many children that have died in school. I think it is interesting to see the notes on the back of the buses, "in case of erratic driving, please call 1-800...(federal number)". Why would they put this on buses? There have been threats and plans by extremists to take over a number of buses all at the same time and deroute them. It is a scarry time to send children to school when you have to worry about their peers carrying guns and extremists having plans to deroute school buses..eeek.
