We wrapped up 'Gone-Away Lake' last week. We really enjoyed all the nature within this fabulous book. Lots of plant, insect and tree names throughout. The adventure was a great one!

The kids drew their favorite part of the story. This is Kaden's drawing of Villa Caprice, one of the old homes at Gone-Away Lake.

Our next read-aloud

'My Side of the Mountain' by Jean Craighead George

It's checked out, from the library, at the moment so we must wait a few days to get started.

I just checked out Gone Away Lake from the library. I'm trying to decide between reading that one and Island of the Blue Dolphins. I'm going to ask the kids in the morning what they want to read.

I love Kaden's drawing! So detailed, great job!

My mom was 51 years old when she died. Very young, but it was her time to go. She did a wonderful job being a wife and mom! Thanks for your sweet comments about my family! God bless!

We have two chapters left to read in My Side of the Mountain and we have all loved it! My husband has read most of it to the children but I "proofed" it before we introduced it as a read aloud book. It's a must for us nature lovers :-).
I haven't been able to post as our computer has been down and I'm not adept on Hubby's laptop.

I hadn't thought about having the kids draw scenes from books we read. Of course, dd does that all the time with her Japanese books by herself, but I need to prod my son into it. : )
