Jan. 22, 2009 - We Have Mold!!
Posted in Mold Study

So we've been watching our mason jars to see how long it takes for the food to mold. The kids were thinking it would never grow. They were doing the growing ~ growing dissapointed by the day.....

Finally day 11/12, we have mold!! Woo Hoo!

What fun it is to look at mold!!!

Next we are going to draw & name various mold types -- oh the possiblities of what could be in this jar!

Jayda apparently thought it was rainbow looking! LOL

I so enjoy your posting of the kids' nature and science studies. I am convinced after reading this month Charlotte Mason blog carnival that I need to get the youngest a sketchbook and do more of this. I'll get there, thanks to blog buddies like you, who give me so much inspiration.

That is so fun! Did you see SuperSize Me? He left McD's fries out for over a month and they never molded (that's on the bonus features). Fascinating.

I really like both MUS and Singapore. We use Singapore for pre-K/K and then MUS after that. Hub isn't in love with Singapore only because it doesn't have a lot of drill. MUS has a bit more, while still teaching the child to think about how math works (which Singapore is also good at). Sometimes I think about using both... Who knows. But they are both excellent for us.

About Me

"We are all meant to be naturalists, each in his own degree, and it is inexcusable to live in a world so full of the marvels of plant and animal life and to care for none of these things." ~ Charlotte Mason

"Imagination does not stir at the suggestion of the feeble, much diluted stuff that is too often put into children’s hands." ~ Charlotte Mason
