Aug. 24, 2009 - A Random Mushroom

Today, we had planned to walk and look for wildflowers -- however, just down the road there was a lonely mushroom that got our attention.

It really isn't pink, must be the sunlight hitting it just the right way.

We took it home and drew/labeled it, discussed poisonous vs. nonpoisonous, and took the cap off to reveal the 'gills,' don't they look like pages from a book? So neat!

Aug. 24, 2009 - That is so cool!

I love your kids' nature pages especially. Did they get their info from Comstock's book?

The Lord led me to study Torah and to see the Bible as a whole - not a new and old - about two years ago. My husband is not with me on this, but he will eat kosher with me without a fight. He has much different views on Sabbath too. This year we will learn the holidays for the first time...

How much into it are you?

I've said it before and I'll say it again...you guys do the greatest job journaling. I really wish we could get into a habit of doing this. Not just for the information that the children are learning but also so that they can look back at their earlier drawings and see how much they have improved. Also these must be such a wonderful item to share with relatives and friends so that they can see what you'll have been doing.
Thanks for the kind remarks over at my place. Seriously, though wouldn't it be so cool to get a bunch of us together to have coffee and just talk and talk :-). Wow, what a thought.
Blessings and have a great week, Julie

About Me

"We are all meant to be naturalists, each in his own degree, and it is inexcusable to live in a world so full of the marvels of plant and animal life and to care for none of these things." ~ Charlotte Mason

"Imagination does not stir at the suggestion of the feeble, much diluted stuff that is too often put into children’s hands." ~ Charlotte Mason
