Jul. 23, 2008 - Daisies, Coneflowers, and Liatrises
So these are some pictures from our flower garden. It's a favorite place of mine. I love to sit outside and see all that God made....to watch the flowers open up and bloom from start to finish. I'm sure the neighbors wonder why I'm always out there with my camera or with my scissors. ( I cut fresh daisies for my table every two days ) Oh to watch the butterflies that zoom in and out, spot the toads that burrow next to the base of the daisies, spy the grasshopper that's camouflaged himself on a petal........and to smell the delightful aroma of it all.

May. 8, 2008 - Flowers Blooming
Here are a couple pictures from my sweet hubby's garden.
The first is an Allium and the second, English Daisies, the third an Ice Plant, the last is a Phlox.
The kids and I have been watching and drawing the Allium since it was a bud. What a wonderful sight to behold.....pretty soon it will be a snowball of purple!

Apr. 4, 2008 - Life of a Seed

I originally planned on reading this book with my 3 year old. I thought it would help him understand a bit more about the seeds we planted in the last weeks. When we sat down to read it, I was pleasantly surprised at the wealth of information. The other kids were 'listening' as they were journaling and working on their own. Soon I found the big kids in the room with us asking questions and wanting to see what we were reading about. So I started over and re-read the book to everyone. It talks of germination & pollenation which was perfect, since as I mentioned before we planted seeds recently. I even learned a few things myself and dad too! Surprisng what we can learn from a 'kids' book. Maybe add it to your own garden/seed planting study.
Here's a couple jounral pages about it. They wrote their explainations of the process on back.

Mar. 28, 2008 - Sowing Seeds ~ 5 day update
Mar. 24, 2008 - Flower Power!
My beloved husband has a love for gardening. He plants, prunes, weeds and even prays over his flowers. He also spends lots of time researching, pouring through magazines, webstores, etc, looking for the 'coolest' of God's creations. He's a flower fanatic!
With springs arrival, he's been getting things in order & making drawings to plant our backyard garden. Along with purchasing plants/seedlings that will come by mail, he also purhased seeds to sew himself. The kids wanted to join in so here they are....each of them has a 'row' to watch and record the 'happenings.' One of the seeds, I can't recall, has very tiny seeds, like mustard seeds, and my hubby took the time to share with them Matthew 17:20, 'if you have faith the size of a mustard seed.......' That was a great discussion!

I'll keep you updated on how they grow...
