Feb. 1, 2006 - It is Beautiful here in Kansas! Even though I really miss my Winter!

We went for a walk, then cross the field to feed our neighbor's horses!  They look for us now!  looking forward to our Brome Hay we carry over, ( mainly to entice them for petting!!)Now we're off to church! See ya later!

Jan. 31, 2006 - my curriculum decision for 2006-07

For Lydia (who loves horses) I have bought "Winter's Promise"  American Story 1 which will cover: Bible, history, reading, read alouds, activities, crafts!

I've always enjoyed Sonlight, but wanted more hands-on!  and this fit the plan!

I'll be ordering their Language ARts for 3rd grade even though she'll be in 4th grade because the writing assignments will correlate!  But We'll add what we need to!

Science???? still deciding for our Winter months! I feel like we've nature journaled every wildflower spiece around our 20 acres!  ok maybe just the interesting ones.  I guess I need to try insects, we've done some trees, but could do some more!  Just need to think a little more about the Nature that is right here on our acreage!

We'll continue on w/ MAth-U-See, I love this program, I used it w/ all my older ones!

Next Is Lance!! who will be ready to read,  he knows all his alphabet and recognizes both upper case and lower case.  He can count to 20!  and we're still working on counting more!

I'll be using  "Alphabet Island" phonics , I have used this w/ my older daughter and I liked it!  I think it'll be a little simple for him, but we'll just move through quickly!

He'll join Lydia on any other subjects!  Keeping it simple for mom!

I'll have no older children to homeschool next yearboth sad and yet!exciting!! 3 down 2 to go ???? Then I don't know what I'll do!

That's my plan in a "nutshell!"

Jan. 31, 2006 - my 2005 2006 curriculum choices

For our 3rd grader, Lydia

Math: Math-U-See

History: We Love America Unit study / timeline / map activities

Writing: dictation/ copywork from readers and mini reports using Dinah Zikes book

Readers are what I choose to go along w/ our study

Grammar:  Easy Grammar and also adds 2 vocab words from her reader

Bible-daily reading to her younger brother and journal what she reads

memory work: verses and US states and capitals

Activity: a US state Book

Spelling:  Spelling Power

Read Aloud:  with Dad every night, Living Literature to go w/ our History

Science:   Spring and Fall, nature study; Winter- Thomas Edison, Creation...

Cursive:  Rod and Staff

Everyones starting to think about the up and coming year! So I thought I'd share our year!  We started w/ the Prairie Primer, but It wasn't suited for mom??? not quite sure?  Lydia is still reading through the books.  We have some very long days she's a lagger!  She has done better the last 2 weeks!  I took the time to use a word-picture story w/ her, describing the disappointment and frustration it caused in our home, because everyone is always waiting on her!  it seemed to help!

thinking through the year!

Sep. 4, 2005 - well here I go!

I've been making my own unit studies for the last 3 years using homeschooling the Easy Way and CM ideas! It has been great fun, and I'm kind of addicted to planning it all out. But next year I will begin the task of teaching my now 4 yob to read, so wanted something all put together!  Anyone have any suggetions!  I've always been a SONLIGHT fan, but have recently avoided them, because of their old earth science philosophy!

any comments would be helpful.

Anyone tried Tapestry of Grace?
