My wife just sent this to me, I think it really could apply to dad's also.. Real Resolutions for Moms Devotion: It's that time when many of us are making New Year's resolutions, so how about some resolutions for mothers? Here are mine: I will put my Bible before the television, the radio, the telephone, and even before good Christian books, for my children will know my priorities by the way they see me spend my free time. I will make my prayer requests known before God and my children, enlisting their help in the process and informing them of the outcome, for by letting them help when I petition our Lord will they learn of a living God who still answers prayer. I will erase the words "luck" and "lucky" from my vocabulary and will instead by my speech point my children toward the One who orchestrates every detail of our lives and brings all good things to pass, for by this my children will learn of an omniscient God. When bad things happen, I'll neither grumble nor complain, but will instead help my children see that in the scope of our lives even the bad times are allowed for a reason, for by this my children will learn quiet trust in their Maker. When normal childhood mishaps occur, I will remember that although difficult, it is still easier to remove grape juice from off-white carpet than to erase harsh and unloving words hurled at a child whose chubby little fingers have failed her, for by this my children will see a God who understands when our best efforts fall short. When my children have witnessed something ugly in me - unkind words, an angry temper, "harmless" gossip, biting sarcasm or even my infamous "mommy pout" when things don't go my way - I will confess it as sin before them seeking their forgiveness, for by this my children will develop the much needed habit of wiping their spiritual slate clean before God and man. I will teach my children the importance of cleanliness and order while at the same time remain sensitive to the fact that a skinned knee or hurt feeling is more crucial than a spotless floor or uncluttered counter, for by this my children will learn to value people above things. I will make time for the lonely, the sick, the elderly, the difficult to love, and will bring my children along, for with each afternoon visit, each ride to the doctor, each raked lawn or washed window they will have opportunity to serve Jesus by serving the "least of these." I will make our home a haven of rest and retreat from the outside world and a welcomed place for my children's friends, for with each impromptu backyard soccer game, each video viewed on a rainy day, each cup of hot cocoa or chocolate chip cookie, my children will have opportunity to practice the art of Christian hospitality thereby learning to share all God has given them. I will by my actions and my speech let my children see a mom love their dad, for by this will my children sense family stability at a time when marriages all around them are crumbling. I will not require of my children obedience, honesty, patience or kindness without first being willing to submit to the same rules whether in speed limit, in miscounted change from the grocery store or when answering a toddler for the fourteenth time, for by this my children will see a mother who is also learning and not a perfect parent to whom they'll never measure up. In all things will I remember that more is caught than is taught. There are little eyes upon you, mom. You are the first Bible your children will ever read. Dear Lord, may my goals this year spring from a right relationship with You and may carrying them out point others heavenward. In Jesus' Name, Amen. |

The Story of the Roses Red roses were her favorites, her name was also Rose. And every year her husband sent them, tied with pretty bows. "I love you even more this year, than last year on this day. She knew this was the last time that the roses would appear. while staring at his picture, and the roses sitting there.
then went to get the telephone to call the florist shop. The owner said, "I knew you'd call, and you would want to know. "Hello my love, I know it's been a year since I've been gone, I hope it hasn't been too hard for you to overcome. I want you to be happy, even when you shed your tears. But, my love, you must go on, you have some living still. Someone who makes you believe that there really is good in the world. |

My family and I had a really good Thanksgiving this year. For us this year was especially good, and different, as we had both families close by. Back this past spring my mother and father in law moved about two miles from us, my parents already lived 7 miles away. So we have both families close by, one benefit is that we do not have to travel. But more importantly is that we get to see them both, they get to see there grandkids more frequently. Everyone was healthy this year... We went to my mother and father in laws for breakfast and then an early lunch (we were all slightly stuffed). We spent the morning and afternoon visiting and play euchre. Later that after noon we went to my parents, and guess what, we ate again... (We were all more than slightly stuffed, might say on the edge of slightly miserable). After visiting with my parents we made the long haul (7 miles) back home. It is always nice to be home.... As Dorothy said it so well, "There's No Place like Home...." We give thanks to God for two wonderful Christian families! |

I was reading the blog of a friend of mine from Houston, Tx and he was talking about relationships and how important they are, they require alot of time and effort to develop and to maintain. Two versus of scripture are quoted that are very much appropriate and shows the importance God put on relationships these two verses really put work afamily into perspective: Psalm 127 (verses 1 & 2):
The next three verses show us the importance that God puts on Children which puts into perspective how us dads have a very important role in the family.
Psalm 127:3-5 Behold, children are a gift of the LORD,
God does not take family and relationships lightly, they are quite important to Him, which in turn, should be important to us.
Thanks Walter for the insite!

Last night at our October homeschool meeting we had the privilege of having TODD WILSON, author of Help! I’m married to a Homeschooling Mom and The Official Book of Homeschooling Cartoons, speak to us.
Todd is a dad, writer, conference speaker, and former pastor. Todd’s humor and gut-honest realness have made him a favorite speaker at homeschool conventions across the country and a recent guest on Focus on the Family. As founder of Familyman Ministries, his passion and mission are to remind dads and moms of what’s most important through The Familyman Weekly (a weekly e-mail sent to thousands of dads), seminars, and books that encourage parents. His articles have appeared in various magazines, including Christian Parenting Today, Men of Integrity, and Stand Firm. Christianity Today also posts his weekly column (The Familyman Weekly) on their website. Todd and his wife Debbie, along with their seven children spend several months of the year traveling the country encouraging moms and dads. His humor, realness, and straight talk to men (& women) have become his trademark. Take a look around this website. There's lots of cool stuff like top ten lists, cartoons, articles for men, and directions on how to make a potato canon. Remember, being a dad is the most important job you'll ever have, and you only get one shot at it! http://www.familymanweb.com.
It was great to hear Todd speak and allow him to encourage both husbands and wives. I think one of the most important things he said was that husbands should fully support there wife. I mean lets face it; it is one thing to be a stay at home mom, but, to be a stay at home mom and homeschool! You guys have a supernatural gift from God. And as Todd said, you are doing the most important job of all, you’re teaching your kids, and you are their influence, not the world. That is Awesome. Superb Meeting!!! |

Below are some the testimonials about this books: Creating wealth is not a venture that should be taken lightly. Building wealth requires following a proven system to help guide you on your journey. If you don't follow a proven system then your odds of failing increase considerably. There are seven steps to creating wealth that will help you conquer any defeat and rise to the top. This article discusses the first three steps to help get you started. Wealth Creation Tip #1: Surround yourself with people you want to be like. Wealth Creation Tip #2: Model and swipe. How do you find the thriving business blueprint of your competitors? Great sources of this information include any e-mails they send and their marketing pieces. Also frequently attend seminars to learn from the pros. Take their system and implement it in your own life and business. You don't need to reinvent the wheel, just modify the system to make it your own. You can research for free or spend money. Working with a mentor or coach can cost money, but is well worth it. Essentially you will have to invest time, money, or both to rise to the top. Just be flexible and do whatever it takes to succeed. Wealth Creation Tip #3: If you don't like where your parents were at your age then do something differently. With the dated mindset of your parents comes fear. They may fear the unknown and discourage you from going down a different path. Fear can stop you. You need to have faith instead because faith moves you into action. Follow these three steps to begin your journey to wealth. Don't go it alone. Learn from professionals and most of all, believe in yourself. Learn more here: http://tinyurl.com/y3k8jd Let's discuss steps four through seven for building wealth in more detail. Wealth Creation Tip #4: Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Wealth Creation Tip #5: Have faith in yourself when making decisions Wealth Creation Tip #6: Leverage your assets. Wealth Creation Tip #7: Be education-focused and action oriented. Lastly, make sure you have an entrepreneurial spirit. Don't start your business simply to earn a paycheck. Start your business because you are excited to take control of your life. I think we all need to be in prayer about the upcoming election... Go Vote! Read Below as this is an article I recieved from American Family Association : How important are the upcoming elections? Extremely important! Below is a list of what we can expect if the liberals win. These elections are crucial. It is vitally important that you vote. Please vote and encourage others to do the same. As bad as things are, they will be infinitely worse if the liberals win. |

If we could only have the intense prayer life and faith as Elijah, can you image, the answers to prayer that we would experience? Can you imagine the effects we could have on others? Imagine how our relationship with Christ would strengthen!
James 5:13-20 Is anyone among you suffering? He should pray. My brothers and sisters, if anyone among you wanders from the truth and someone turns him back, he should know that the one who turns a sinner back from his wandering path will save that person’s soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins. |

This was a really good article I stumbled on at Focus on the Family.
Five Aspects of a Godly Man ASPECT #1: LORD OF THE EARTH In Genesis 1:28, God told Adam to "fill the earth and subdue it." The word "subdue" carries the connotation of taking responsibility. It is part of a man's design to take initiative and be productive. God designed men to take ground, make progress, and enlarge their realm of responsibility. In our fallen nature, however, we tend to either abuse or abandon each of the aspects of our design. Many men abuse the "Lord of the earth" aspect by trying to take possession of that which is not in their realm of responsibility. A substantial number of the Ten Commandments are prohibitions against claiming stewardship over that which is not yours (thou shalt not steal, covet, commit adultery). Other men abandon this aspect altogether by avoiding responsibility rather than embracing it. I have been surprised at the number of business books I've read recently in which authors crow about how they have gotten rid of all of their responsibilities--employees and the like--and are getting rich without a care in the world. Selfishly, I, too, would like to prosper without taking responsibility. But the bearing of responsibility is one tool God uses to build ME into a leader.
ASPECT #2: HUSBANDMAN In Genesis 2:15, God put Adam in the Garden of Eden to "tend it." Not only was Adam to take responsibility by taming more of the earth, he was also to exercise watchful care over that which was his responsibility. God designed men to nurture the things in their realm and bring them to productivity. In our fallen natures, however, we men tend to abuse the husbandman aspect by ravaging our realm of productivity, stripping it of value in a greedy attempt to maximize short-term gain. Men tend to do this with things they own, and also with relationships, using and discarding people rather than equipping them to be what God wants them to be. We can also abandon our husbandman aspect by refusing to nurture anyone or anything at all, living a completely self-centered life.
ASPECT #3: SAVIOR In Genesis 3:15, God pronounced a curse: the "seed of the woman" would crush the head of the serpent. The word for "seed" is "zera," which, according to Hebrew scholar Walter Kaiser, is deliberately flexible enough to refer to the one who represents the group (Christ the Messiah) as well as to all of the male offspring AS a group. Let me be clear: men do not save themselves from their sins. But God HAS created men with a desire to fight for truth and stand against evil and injustice. We see this in little boys who like play guns, as well as in the longing for significant purpose that a man experiences when watching a movie like Braveheart. To the degree that we act as warriors, defenders and protectors, our actions have a destructive effect on Satan's schemes (see Romans 16:20). Unfortunately, fallen man abuses the savior aspect by fighting for the wrong things, fighting in an ungodly way, or by attracting a woman with his ability to protect and then using that same power to dominate her. We can also abandon this aspect by refusing to take a stand for anything at all.
ASPECT #4: SAGE The book of Proverbs was written by a father admonishing his son to be wise. A sage applies God's wisdom in everyday circumstances. The sage is no guru hiding out on a mountaintop: in Old Testament times, a leader was seen to be wise "in the city gates," which meant that he was making judgements publicly, where the wisdom or foolishness of his decisions would be obvious to all. Fallen man abuses the sage aspect by pretending to employ God's wisdom while actually manipulating others for personal benefit. Jesus said of such men that it would be better for them that a millstone were tied around their necks and they were drowned; the coming judgement will be swift and harsh for such evil people. We can also abandon our sage aspect by acting foolishly--that is, contrary to God's wisdom.
ASPECT #5: GLORY OF GOD First Corinthians 11:7 says that man is the "glory of God." This could mean a lot of things, but one meaning seems certain: when men live out their design in a God-honoring way, society develops a great respect and reverence for God. I'm no historian, but it seems to me that when men are weak and irresponsible, society develops a low view of God. When men abuse the glory of God aspect, people see God as abusive and cruel. When men abandon this aspect, people see God as impotent and distant. Please understand, I'm not suggesting that we as men are in charge of "protecting God's reputation." We would be fools to give ourselves that much credit. But the fact remains that our actions, or lack thereof, has REAL consequences.
HOW SHOULD WE THEN LIVE? A godly man is one who, through the power of God's grace, becomes redeemed to these aspects of his design. This man becomes aware of and repents of the things he does to abuse or abandon his design. Furthermore, I would assume, he lives out this design in a balanced way. For example, some men may have more of one particular aspect, but that does not justify their neglect of the other aspects.

Last night my wife and I along with a group of good friends from our homeschool group attended a Josh McDowell seminar. WOW! Was it awesome. But, one the same since was a little scary of the information that he was providing us. Basically he stated that if we do not provide the instruction and the guidance that our children need, without first connecting with them relationally, we will most likely be faced with resistance from them. Mr. McDowell talked about the 6 "A's". Affirmation Acceptance Appreciation Affection Availability Accountability
Read all about the six "A's" in this downloadable PDF
Check out what statistics say about our kids today (pretty scary) Here's what our kids believe. 3Ibid, 51. |

I have been a member of these survey sites for several years now. You won't get rich off of these sites but, it does give you some extra money, especially if you stick with it. The more surveys you take the more they send and the more you earn. Some sites, pay you per survey, others you accumulate points from taking the surveys and then when you build up "x" amount of points you can redeem them for cash or gifts... Pretty Cool!
You can also (if you don't already have one) sign up for PayPal |

Like I said yesterday I would provide some good place to eat (that we ate at in Richmond, VA.)...
Colonial Williamsburg

Rio Grande, OH
Richmond, VA. Sine' Irish Pub -- This place was awesome! |

It has been a while since I have posted. I have been down in Richmond, VA. working. I am back now as my family an I returned on Sunday. Although I was down there the work, we had a good time together. We experienced our first Tropical Storm. We also visited Williamsburg, VA., and ate lunch at the The King's Arms Tavern which was absolutely awesome! We spent about 4 or 5 hours in Williamsburg and then treavelled down to Buckroe Beach, VA. to let the kids experience the ocean since we were that close, they loved it and did not want to leave. It is located on the edge of the Chesapeake Bay, Buckroe Beach is ideal for those looking for a long, sandy shoreline and gentle surf. There are sheltered picnic tables, restrooms and a fishing pier. Rentals available nearby include charter fishing and personal watercraft. We then headed back home. I think we were all ready! I will post more on the places we ate later today. |
