Last week I metioned something about an essay, well, my mom graded it and she said it was one of the best I had ever written! So, I am going to post it here, and see what others think about it. I was writing on Anne of Green Gables that week and one of my assigned essays was to write on the Biblical form of adoption so here it is:
Welcome to the Family
Adoption is a word commonly associated with children . To adopt, as defined by Webster’s dictionary means: To take by choice into a relationship, to choose. Adoption: the process of taking in. For Christians though, the word is much more meaningful.
When a person accepts Jesus as their saviour, we become adopted into the family of Christ. We were not of his family before, because we were, and still are, sinners. However, once we become Christians, then the magnificent blood of Jesus covers us all.
God wants to adopt you, all you have to do is ask.
God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. Ephesians 1:5
God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children. Galations 4:5
God wants to adopt us and he looks forward to the day when he will be able to adopt all into his family and make you his child. Do you remember when you were a little kid, and you wanted to be a princess, or a heroic prince. That’s what we will be; the sons and daughters of the King of Kings, The Lord of Lords. I want to be the daughter of that king. So what are you waiting for, accept Jesus, and you are automatically adopted into the high king’s family.
As sons and daughters of the king, we get an inheritance: heaven. But we also get so much more than that.
And we believers also groan, even though we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering. We, too, wait with eager hope for the day when God will give us our full rights as his adopted children, including the new bodies he has promised us. Romans 8:23
They are the people of Israel, chosen to be God's adopted children. God revealed his glory to them. He made covenants with them and gave them his law. He gave them the privilege of worshiping him and receiving his wonderful promises. Romans 9:4
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. 1 Peter 1 3-5
So what are you waiting for? God is willing to adopt you, give you a magnificent new body, a place in heaven, and eternity. Just ask Jesus to cover you with his precious blood, and you will be adopted and saved. I am adopted, are you?
Well, how was it? Please comment and tell. Til later, BYE!
