My Journey Toward A Trusting Heart | |
Live From Orlando!!Good Day, All!
We're on week 2 here in sunny FL. Yes, its hot. Last weekend was absolutely PERFECT...mid 80s, low humidity. Right close to Heaven, I imagine. But then Tuesday came. We chose that day for Sea World, and boy was it a scorcher. My top was drenched, my hair was dripping. NOT PRETTY.
We got a pretty good deal for the park, though...for a Pepsi can each, Mark and I paid the kids ticket price, then we got to upgrade our tickets for an unlimited week pass...meaning we can come and go as often as we like w/in 7 days. We watched the "Shamu" show, "Believe" -- it was truly spectacular. Honestly, I was in tears. I was just so moved by God's creativity in these wonderous creatuers...amazing. Of course there was the usual "we are all one" stuff, as if I am kin to Shamu and Co...I don't buy that of course, but I do embrace the conservation ideas, etc. It was a great show.
Mark took Colton again this past Thursday morning...early enough to beat the rush and get in a few rides. We plan to go back before Monday, to see a few more of the shows and to watch the evening fireworks. We don't usually do any stuff...its sorta like we do all we can to just GET here, and we don't budget in $$ for the parks. Its so expensive...and Connor is still little enough that much is lost on him. But Colton has enjoyed it and we're glad we did it.
I read back over my last entry, and I have to laugh out loud here...for all my noble intentions, I have not walked once...I mean "walking for fitness" -- the best I've done is some mall walking/shopping with a friend last weekend, then to the pool and back! HA. So much for my expectations that I would stay on track and fight the good fight.
Its just so hard for me, out of my element, to be consistent. Character flaw, I know. But the week is not done yet, so there's still time to do it and say I did it! The DVDs are sitting, as we speak, on top of the TV, right next to the DVD player. I can read the spines from here!! So, here's praying I'll find some shred of self-interest to move my behind and do something positive.
I'm happy to report, however, that we've kept junk food to a minimum....we just didn't buy a lot of junkie stuff. No regrets there. We eat out very little when we travel; our condos provide a full kitchen, so we cook in most of the time. We don't mind at all. This way we don't have to get fixed up to go out to eat...we can eat in our jammies, our swimsuits, etc. And I don't have to wear make-up! What a plus!!!
I'll soon be submitting my "Janet Detcher" post for the Kanner Lake blog, "Scenes and Beans" -- I hope you'll take time to read the entries there so far. Some very creative people! Be sure to leave comment, too...but remember, make no references to "real life"...just reference Kanner Lake and/or the characters.
Connor has been sick, and its been a real stressor. I am pretty convinced its allergies...tho it could just be a vicious cold. He's got a runny nose, watery eyes, cough...and his cough is so gaggy, he does gag and puke. We've pretty much washed the sheets and towels at least once a day!! Poor little guy. He can't get rid of the mucus, and so it just chokes him. So I hear him cough all night long, and pray he won't puke.
I did go to Walgreens last night and got a store version of Claritin...hopefully that'll help, plus we're giving him a cough suppressant/expectorant. What else can we do? If its cold or allergy, there's not much else that can be done, right?? So, he's miserable and we're helpless to do much more than we are doing.
I think when we get home I'm going to make an appt with an allergist to just see what might be going on. I honestly don't think its food -- we are eating no differently here than we would be at home...so I think its airborne, but we shall see.
Well, guess I'd better move along here...I'm meeting a new "friend" for lunch today. I met Terri online thru the "Faithwriters" website...she commented on one of my entries there, and we began a friendly exchange and now, because she lives not far from Orlando, we're meeting for lunch. Should be fun. I've enjoyed our "conversations" over email, so I expect this will be a continuation of that. I'll post how it all goes.
Mark and the boys are in the pool right now...time for me to check mail and do my update...now time for me to shower and get ready for my "date"!
Hugs all around, and I know you'll be waiting with bated breath for the next post!! HA. as if.....
