Janet Detcher LIVES!Okay...last one for today...
JANET DETCHER has come alive on the Kanner Lake "Scenes and Beans Blog" -- so go check it out...and leave a comment, will you? RELATED ONLY TO THE FICTIONAL JANET and the post...not to or about the Real Me.
The story I related there is true...and its almost verbatim of what I submitted to Brandilyn...she did tweak it a bit for content but the meat of the story is as it was when I sent it...and you should also know that the story itself is based on a TRUE STORY that happened to some dear DEAR friends of mine, early in their own ministry...the names have been changed to protect the guilty! and to fit into the Kanner Lake thing, of course!
So, check it out: www.kannerlake.blogspot.com
See ya next time! Kanner Lake -- Scenes and Beansanother note...the Kanner Lake blog, Scenes and Beans is up and running.
My first post as Janet Detcher will appear next Monday, July 24. Be sure to check it out...then run as fast as you can for your local bookstore and pick up VIOLET DAWN, the first in the Kanner Lake Series. YOU'LL LOVE IT!
Read up on all the other character's blogs, as well....very entertaining! Then follow some of them to the writers' own blogsites.
Enjoy! Exciting News -- PSthought I should clarify that KANNER LAKE is a fictional town. It is "Kanner Lake" Idaho that the new Brandilyn Collins books are based upon.
It exists only in Mrs. Collins' mind -- but believe me, you'll think its real when you read the first book, "Violet Dawn." Please be sure to pick it up in your local bookstore -- B&N or Borders or local Christian bookstore -- they'll all have it. It'll be released sometime in August.
All the "bloggers" are FICTIONAL characters from the story...the writers are people from every corner of the country. Each post will be written AS that character...so it calls for a little "fiction writer" in each of us. It will go LIVE July 5. www.kannerlake.com then click on "scenes and beans" at the bottom.
I've enlisted the help of several friends who can lend me some true-life ministry experiences...things I can give to my character, Janet Detcher, the local minister's wife.
If you have any such stories, please pass them along. I'm not sure what will be used and what will not, but it'll be great to hear your stories and then to try to weave them into Janet's life (church and home) in Kanner Lake. Brandilyn will be editing everything before it is posted, so its hard to say what will make it and what won't. But I need all the fodder I can get!
As soon as I can get it figured out, I'll have a link to the site on my blog. I'M WAITING FOR JULIE NOTT TO SHARE HER WEALTH OF KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE ON THE SUBJECT. I'm really a techno-dork, and just simply don't know where to start!
So, bear with me, and I'll get that link set up ASAP.
Thanks for your help, HSBs. Any church-life stories will be welcomed...be it funny, moving, -- maybe its funny now but wasn't funny then!? -- please share!!
Have a great day!
OH, another thing....I'm preparing to submit an article for consideration to Hearts-At-Home. Will you pray for me? Obviously to have it accepted will be a great thing, but if I get rejected -- something the pros tell beginners to expect! -- God give me grace to accept it and move along. This will be my first attempt at a "printed" magazine...and there are many out there. I just need the courage to step out.
I am happy to report that I've had two well-established writers from the FaithWriters site remark that my work is good and has great potential. Now if I can just convince others of that! If God wills....
Kim
Exciting News! Its been a few -- well, okay, MANY days since I've been on here. Probably because I think I'm talking to myself. What an absolute bore!
I'm not savvy enough to figure out some of the techno-stuff about this web thing, so here I sit, wondering if its worth it???
So, at the risk of talking only to myself, and already knowing what I'm about to post, let me just tell "you" (is there a "you"?) about this cool thing coming up...
A while back I think I posted the info about Brandilyn Collins...? If not, she's a great suspense author w/ Zondervan (obviously well-reputed)...I auditioned for a spot on her upcoming "BLOG" for her new "Kanner Lake" series. She chose several people to write posts AS a character from her book -- to promote the new books and subsequent books in the new series.
I'm inviting you to visit the site: www.kannerlake.com At the bottom, click on "Scenes and Beans Blog"... the site will go "live" on JULY 5.
I'd appreciate the visits -- watch for my posts as JANET DETCHER; not sure how frequently Brandilyn will call for them, but I'll be there at least thru December.
It should be fun, with some good writing experience for me, and the other bloggers.
Thanks for the support! GREAT NEWS!Found out this morning that I will be participating in "virtual web-log" as the fictious character, Janet Detcher. Janet is the wife of Hank, the pastor of a small church in "Kanner Lake, Idaho" -- a fictious town.
I mentioned "Brandilyn Collins" in an earlier post..I enhaled her books...she gave me the chance to audition for a character's voice for the blog site, "Java Joint", introduced in her new "Kanner Lake" series of books, beginning with "Violet Dawn" due out in August.
"Janet" was only mentioned by name, so I thought it wuold be fun to develop her, having been a pastor's wife in a small town....and I guess Brandilyn thought it was okay, and gave me the part.
So, I'll begin posting, as Janet, starting in July, on "Java Joint"...the Blog will be "live" in July -- I'll let you know when...
Should be fun. I've asked for some input from other pastors/friends/wives -- for a few personal anedotes...I hope to incorporate some of those experiences as Janet's.
anyway, that's all I hvae time for today...Hope all of you reading this are having a great day! I'll keep you up-to-date on the Blog...let's see how much fun Janet's life can really be!! |
