This is my Grammy's cornbread recipe. Everytime I make it, I remember when I was little and helping Gramma.
Cornbread
1 c. flour
1 c. cornmeal
2T sugar
1T baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
2 eggs
1T shortening
Combine dry ingredient. Add milk and eggs. Mix well until combined.
Heat oil in a cast iron skillet (or melt it and pour into a round or 9" square baking dish). Pour in cornbread batter.
Bake at 425* for 20-25 min. until deep golden brown.
