Siever Family Homeschool

To Introduce Us
We are a family of homeschoolers who have been "officially" homeschooling since 2004 but unofficially since our first was a baby (and planning it since before she was born). We have three children, aged 7, 5 and 1. We have been married 11 years and live in Alberta, previously (8 years ago) in B.C. The oldest is in grade 3, the second one, he is in Kindergarten. Our style is eclectic with a Classical/Thomas Jefferson Education leaning (in a major way). We love homeschooling. *I* love homeschooling. Our children love it (usually). Alright, have to make this short, my baby has needed me twice already (for nursing) and who knows when she will again!

Hi...
My gosh time goes fast... I didn't realize that Sinead is in grade 3 already and you guys have been in Lethbridge 8 years.

Homeschooling is a very good thing to do. It shows on Deb's girls and definately on Sinead and Regan too. I proud of you and Kim and the way you are teaching and working with Sinead, Regan and soon Aisling. The benefits will come back to you in a multitude of ways in your older years.

Dad

Thanks! :) Well we do have fun with it and I am sure learning a lot too. One thing I did not know, which maybe I was taught, maybe I wasn't, is when skip counting 9 (or 9 times tables) the numbers are easy to remember because, look at this: 9, 27, 36, 45, 54, 63, 72,81, 90. The number in the one spot goes DOWN the number in the 10 spot goes UP. Sequentially! Isn't that cool? Math is actually FUN. I certainly never thought so! Sinιad picked it up right away!

Nov. 11, 2006 - Saying Hi

Posted by MoreLittleWilsons

Just wanted to let you know I followed your link here.. and wanted to say Hi.

I love the name Sinead - Sinead OConnor is one of my favorite songstresses.

By the way, have you ever heard of Dangerous Journey? It's a picture book version of Pilgrim's Progress, and the BBC did a 9-10 part video series on it, using only the illustrations of the book, as the narrator reads, the camera pans the illustrations. Very well done in my estimation. Maybe you could PAIR th reading of Pilgrim's Progress, with watching that chapter of the video.
