If the neighbors were closer....
...they may have thought I was performing an amputation by the yells they might have heard coming from my second born son. "DON'T CUT!!!!! DON'T CUT!!!!!!!" Yep, it was his turn again for the chair of honor. This duty is performed every six weeks. HAIR CUTS for the whole family. (or for whoever needs it) Come- one -come all. This is a date that our entire family has the same universal opinion about. We ALL dread hair cutting nights. I think my second born is seriously allergic to his own hair. He gets terrible rashes after his hair cut when the hair is touching his skin. He had to get by tonight without a perfect cut because he was crying so much due to being so itchy. He would not keep still! His hair line is a little crooked in the back now. I was so fed up with the ordeal that I just whipped off the hair bib and said, "That's as good as it 's going to get". He and I both were under the same opinion-no more. My first born ALSO was so itchy, I could not keep him still either. He was constantly moving all over. Thankfully though, he has so much hair that no matter what I do to his hair, it never shows any mistakes after a cut. Third born son, on the other hand, was the perfect little angel. Sitting oh-so-properly, he just sat and never itched. He would gracefully blow hair off his plasic protector for the fun of it and ask if he could have a sucker. "No, Honey, it is very sad but we don't have any more suckers"-I had to tell him. Suckers are our tradition. They kids KNOW that hair cutting comes with suckers. I better get some before next time! After the boys had cuts, Sean whisked them away to their showers. One more hair-cutting night a success. Well, make that a HALF success. I still have to even out second born's crooked hair line. And to top the evening off-Sean asked me, "Have you fed Pickles today?" (our praying mantis!)

I truly feel your pain/humor in your ordeal!
I think your son should get 2 suckers next haircutting night!
Have a great day and come by and say hello.

Welcome to HSB! My youngest son just sits on the stool and crys very silently while getting his hair cut. There is nothing sadder then a little boy with big tears dripping down his cheeks while at the same time he sits there bravely.

Hello Kristel.
Just wanted to stop by and welcome you to HSB. I feel like I know you already as I have been a friend of your moms for a while now. She's a lovely lady and she is so proud of you and her grandchildren.
I was laughing so hard at the "don't cut, don't cut" screams. Those screams can be heard at our house from time to time too. Thankfully the nearest neighbors are a 1/4 mi. away.
Have a great weekend!
Blessings,
Lori

Funny, funny, funny! I'm glad I wasn't there for that one. I left just in time, I guess. Poor DS2. Just to let you know: I didn't hear any of the screams last night, so you're safe. And you know I can hear the kids yelling when they're playing in the backyard.
love,
mom

Hi!
Nice to meet you.
Probably nicer for me then you, lol, see I would just let his hair grow and be done with that noise. If you look in my archives you will see my son with long hair. He didn't get it cut till waitresses continually called him a girl even though he was wearing boys clothes! He finally accepted the concept of he's not Samson, lol. He's currently growing it out again and loves it.
Anyhoo, I unschool my youngest and my oldest is off to career training. Feel free to pop on over and say hi.

I cut our family's hair, too. Well, all the males that is...Joy hasn't needed a cut yet and i don't intend to cut hers for a very, very long time.
Imagine how much we save by doing this. Imagine the horror of having our children scream like that at the barber shop! I have one who gets itchy like that, too, but he hates to comb his hair and asks me to cut it really short and keep it that way.

Hi there! Welcome to HSB! I was reading your blog, and suddenly, I realized that we live in the same state! I live in WA state too! I always like to find fellow bloggers who live in my state, and maybe we can become real life friends...that is, if you live around here!
My name is Leanne and I've been married to my high school sweetheart Dave for, well, it will be 14 years on September 18! Actually, I was in high school still when I met him, and he is 5 years older than me! We have 6 children and they are:
Russell, 12
Hannah, 10
Samantha, almost 9 (Dec 15)
Sara, almost 7 (Jan 6)
Kellie, almost 5 (Jan 26)
and Sofia, 1 and a half
My husband is a mailman here in our town and has been at the post office for 14 years on November 13. We sure have a good life and I love being a stay at home, homeschooling keeper of the home.
We live about an hour from Long Beach and about an hour from Seaside OR too....I saw your pictures of camping at the beach and wondered how close you live to us, of course, there are beaches up north too and you could live a couple of hours away too!!
I just wanted to welcome you and if you want to browse my blog you are so welcome to.....I would love to have a new friend!
