• Dec. 8, 2009 - Movie Review

Posted By Ashley in Reviews
Hey everyone-

Last Friday, I went to see "The Blind Side" in theaters. I thought, that since I can't find much else to post about anymore- that I would post a review of this movie.

Cast:
Sandra Bullock as Leigh Anne Tuohy
Tim McGraw as Sean Tuohy
Kathy Bates as Miss Sue
Quinton Aaron as Michael "Big Mike" Oher
Lily Collins as Collins Tuohy
Jae Head as S.J. Tuohy
Ray McKinnon as Coach Cotton
Kim Dickens as Mrs. Boswell
Adriane Lenox as Denise Oher
Catherine Dyer as Mrs. Smith

About the Movie:
The Blind Side depicts the true story of Michael Oher (Quinton Aaron), a homeless 18-year-old from a broken home. He enrolls in a private Christian school and struggles to fit in because he is woefully underprepared. Eventually, he is taken in by the Tuohys (Sandra Bullock, Tim McGraw, Lily Collins, and Jae Head), a well-to-do Christian family who helps him fulfill his potential. At the same time, Oher's presence in the Tuohys' lives leads them to some self-discoveries of their own. Recognizing his potential talent as a football player, they encourage him get him private tutors and get involved in his football career. Living in his new environment, the 18-year-old faces a completely different set of challenges. As a football player and student, Oher works hard and, with the help of his coaches and adopted family, becomes an All-American offensive left tackle.

My Thoughts:
I first heard about this movie, from a friend- who had went to see it, and really enjoyed it.
I was so excited when my mom told me that she would take me to see the movie.
I'm so glad that she did- it was a movie that I really, really loved- and I do plan to buy it when it comes out on DVD.
This movie, which was very emotional- I know I had tears in my eyes during more than half the movie.
There were a few bad words- and one inappropriate scene (well, actually, it was only like a sentence), and one violence scene. But nothing really bad- and I'm not actually exactly sure why it is rated PG13.
I would totally recommend this movie, and I think that most anyone would enjoy it, even if you're not a big football fan. It's got a great message, and I know that I enjoyed it!

• Dec. 4, 2009 - GRRR!

Posted By Ashley
I've been trying to post an entry for the last two days, but each day, I've lost a really long post- and it's beginning to aggravate me. Gr. Today- instead of doing it on my laptop- I'm doing it on a desktop, so hopefully, I won't lose this long post! Again. Too bad I didn't save it before I lost them both.

I had a great 16th birthday- a great party- with awesome friends and family, some that I don't get to see very often. It was a great day all around.
I got a lot of pretty jewelry for my birthday- some really pretty necklaces, and bracelets that I love.
I got enough money (with gift cards) to buy myself a mini Acer Aspire 1 laptop! It's so tiny- compared to my mom's laptop- but I really like it- and it's great for typing up my stories and surfing the net.

Natalie came a week after my birthday- to spend a weekend with me. It was so much fun seeing her again.
We hadn't seen each other since June- when I went up to the New York Homeschool Convention- and met up with her and Sam there. Afterward, I went to her house for the night- it was a lot of fun, but it wasn't a very long time together.
It was great to have her here for the weekend- we played our guitars a lot, watched movies, talked and just hung out together. We're hoping to do something again in the spring- and hopefully again in the summer. We'll figure something out.
Oh, and I have pictures, like I promised!

Here is one of Natalie and I on our Adirondack Chairs on the porch:

My favorite picture from when she was here:

You should see our living room. It officially turned into a living dining room! :P We have all the dining room stuff in the living room, while we paint~ and it looks SO funny! :P

In a week, Natalie is coming! it's getting closer and closer, and I can't wait to see her! Eep!

Tomorrow is my 16th birthday, and I"m excited for that as well! :P In 13 hours I'll officially be sixteen.

Anyway, that's all I've got for now! I'll be sure to post soon.

Love,
~Ashley

Hello Everyone!

Well, Today was a pretty good day.   I had co-op this morning, I only have two classes; writing and geography. It's pretty easy! Well, that's about it.
Have a great night everyone!

• Nov. 8, 2009 - Another weekly post! :)

Posted By Ashley in A day in the Life of Ashley
I'm posting again. Aren't you proud? Even though I'm not getting very many comments, things might happen where people come back to blogging, and then, when they come back, I'm actually have posted! :)

This week, nothing really significant happened. We did a full week of school, putting us past the 50 days mark. That means there's only 130 more to go. :)

This week, we'll be doing a lot of cleaning, and cooking, for my birthday party on next Sunday. 7 days until I'm 16. :)

Natalie is coming in 13 days, less than a week. I'm really excited to see her again, and of course, I'll be sure to post pictures on my blog, of when she's here. Her younger sister is coming to hang out with Gracie for the weekend, so I'm sure that it will be fun for both Gracie and I.

Tonight, I'm headed to my church for youth group. Our church just started having youth, so right now, it's only a once-a-month thing. But it's still a lot of fun, and I get to see my friends again! :)

I'll post again sometime next week.

Love,
~Ashley

• Nov. 2, 2009 - Start of a new week.

Posted By Ashley in A day in the Life of Ashley
Hey, I'm doing better! I haven't posted in a week, but that's better than two weeks, right? I feel like I need some routine, so that I actually post, and don't just spend my time, worrying about posting, since I don't have anything to post about. I'm going to try to make it routine that I post once a week, even if I don't have much to post about. If I seem to forget, leave me a comment, and tell me I'd better post! :)

My 16th birthday is in 13 days- I'm really excited about that. We're having a small party at my house, with family and some wonderful friends. I can't wait to see some people that I don't get to see that often.

Later on this month, Natalie is coming down to spend the weekend with me. Remember in June- how I went up to see her, and Sam- because Mom and I were going to the homeschool convention? Well, I was up there for her 16th birthday- and she'll be down here the weekend after mine. I'm so excited to see her again. Of course, I'll have plenty of pictures to post once she leaves! :)

This week, there isn't much going on at our house. Gracie is the only one who has anything to do, really. She takes both violin and piano lessons.
As for me, right now, I'm not taking any sort of lessons. For the month of October, I was taking some online guitar classes, but of course, now it's November, and they are no longer going on.

Anyway, I guess that's all I have for this week. I'll check in, and be sure to comment! I miss hearing from all my bloggin' buddies!

Love,

• Oct. 26, 2009 - I am middle-brain dominant

Posted By Ashley in Fun Stuff
I took this quiz, to see whether I was right-brain dominant, left-brain dominent, or middle-brain dominent.

I got middle-brain.
Here's my results:

You are a middle brain dominant student!

You are open minded but not gullible about things or people. You may run into trouble making decisions sometimes, while your logical brain plays tug-of-war with your gut instinct. You enjoy the arts, but you could also do well in science and math. You appreciate the beauty of all things in life, and are well-rounded. Middle brain students would do well on The Apprentice, since they can have a strong mix of gut instinct and an appreciation for numbers. You would have a strong career in business, but you may not go that route; you may be more interested in studying the arts and sciences in college. You would be wise to read over the characteristics of left and right brain students and consider whether you fall into the traps of either type. For instance, extreme right brain dominant students can get too bogged down in thought, while extreme left brain students can be rigid in their views.

The scary thing is, this is really true. LOL

Take the quiz, and let me know what you get!
~Ashley

Whooeee..I can't believe that I did it again. It just doesn't seem like it's been 14 days since I've written on my blog. I meant to do a post every week, and keep myself at it, so that I actually have a post up, every now and then, and you all don't get bored with me!
Well, I guess that that didn't work out for me as well as I would've liked. I'm a horrible blogger!
I guess since I can't find anything 'cool' to post about- being that I'm not one of the coolest people in the world- I'll just post about my life.

I've been doing a ton of writing lately. I get on these schedules, where I'll write for a month, and not read at all. And then I'll read like a fiend for a month, and not write. I'm not sure what it is, but right now, I'm doing a ton of writing.

Kylie, Sam, Natalie and I have started an inspirational blog, over at blogspot. If you want to check it out- and leave us a comment, or keep reading the blog, that would be wonderful! :)
The blog is where we post things for teenage girls, to get them inspired, and to read about how great God's love is for us.
And how we're beautiful through Christ.
Check it out:
Beautiful-in-Christ

Well, that's all I have for now, be sure to check out our new blog, and to comment on this blog as well! :)

Love,
Ashley
