Crazy Idea...what do you think?

God created birds and He gave them each a unique song.
You could say that God taught them to sing their own
unique song.

If you look in bird books they will tell you each bird's song. Usually they say the cardinal's song is "pretty, pretty, pretty". The barred owl's song is "who cooks for you?" Then there are birds that are named for their songs like the whip-poor-will and bob-white.

As we have been listening more to the birds and as I was thinking more about how God created them and gave them their songs, I have what some may think is a crazy idea. What if the songs the birds sing are praise songs to the Lord? What if what the cardinal is really saying is "praise Him, praise Him, praise Him"? What if what the barred owl is really saying is "who cares for you'?

It could totally change how we listen to the bird's songs. Listen to them to hear how they sing praises to their creator. Take time to listen to how the birds sing the song God has given them. They sing all day long, over and over again the same song. Each bird you hear can be a reminder to take time to praise the Lord. Do we take any time in our day to sing praise to our creator?

Now I know some of you will think, "OK for North America the birds are singing in English, but are they bilingual"? Do they sing in different languages? Maybe so. Some will just think Pam has been in the woods too long.

Listen to the birds today and tell me what you think a bird is singing. Ask your kids. They come up with some great things. It also makes them think about birds being God's creation.

Here is a little song for children I wrote about the cardinal's song.

Praise Him

Praise Him, praise Him, praise Him

That's the cardinal's song.

Praise Him, praise Him, praise Him

Praise Him all day long.

If the birds can praise Him

Singing as they do

I can sing His praises!

How 'bout you?

Here is Anna singing it

Great post. I love it. I think they are praises.
