I learned something new today.  I learned that there is an "International Blog Day" on August 31st.  WHY is this not on my calendar?????    Well, I have fixed that glaring omission, and hopefully will remember to celebrate on Friday. 

I found out about this exciting, and apparently largely unknown, holiday by reading Living for God.  She is doing an Asian-flavor giveaway to celebrate, and all you have to do is visit her blog and leave her a comment about a favorite activity or game that your family has. 

My family's two favorite games are probably Scrabble and Dutch Blitz. My DH doesn't care much for word games, but when my family is here visiting the Scrabble is out for the rest of us. Dutch Blitz is inevitably played whenever we have our friends over for an evening.  Other games that are popular at our house are Rummikub, Phase 10, Rook, Sorry (Disney version), Monopoly (again, Disney version), and Scattergories.  But truthfully we don't often have game nights, because we all like different types of games.  DH and the boys like strategy-type games like Risk, and I prefer word games like Scrabble and Scattergories.
