Here's a picture of a field trip I arranged for our homeschool group before Christmas. We toured the greenhouse my husband manages and got to see the pointsettias and learned lots about how they are grown. This is a bunch of the kids on the tour (the four on the right are mine!) taking a little break!

And this is a picture of an experiment we tried about the same time - we copper plated some paperclips, screws, and safety pins. The screws worked the best, because we could see the difference more clearly. We were studying the effects of acids and bases in chemical reactions. What happens in this one is this: there is some white vinegar added to the water the pennies and other objects are sitting in. The acid of the vinegar works to move copper atoms from the pennies to the other objects.
