Nestled in the heart of blackberry country, our home and school serve as a refuge to our souls. I am a home schooling mom of four and our family lives, loves and learns in the scenic countyside. A breath taking view of the ever changing and majestic Mt. St. Helens can be taken in from our giant living room and kitchen windows. (See a photo of the mountain in my slide show located below.) We have a front row seat to the mountain's many moods and faces. Each day in our country refuge brings a new adventure as we seek to serve and glorify the Lord!
Talk about out of the ordinary! When I lived in Illinois as a little girl, tornadoes were commonplace; but the one we had here in town today was definitely an oddity for the Pacific N.W. Actually, we live about 15 miles north of where the tornado touched down, but it was close enough to give us a whopping thunder and lightning storm out here in the country. Our lights flickered a time or two and we were blessed to have not lost power. My hubby called from his truck where he was running an errand in town, and it turns out that he was just a mile or so south of the tornado's fury when it touched down. Thankfully, there was not one person killed, or even injured during the storm. God is so good!
Tomorrow's weather looks to be quite a bit more calm!
That is rare!! . I lived in Des Moines for the first 16 years of my life (i am 43 now). We had a tornado go down our street!! Took down some trees and ran up the Kent Des Moines road and took off the roof by my grandma's house. Very scary!!

That's close enough! Glad you all are okay! My dh & I are trained storm spotters with the National Weather Service, but I perfer being safe & snug in our basement when weather hits. Unfortunately too many times I'm actually caught in the barn while trying to get our dumb chickens shut in - next time they are on their own. :)
Whoa! I was just catching up on folks, after my long jury duty, and I didn't know how close that tornado was to YOU! Can you believe it? A tornado in Western WA? Snoqualmie Pass shut down for days? 30,000,000 without power in China because of snow? Snow in the middle east? Hmmm....more "labor" pains, ya think?
