Nestled in the heart of blackberry country, our home and school serve as a refuge to our souls. I am a home schooling mom of four and our family lives, loves and learns in the scenic countyside. A breath taking view of the ever changing and majestic Mt. St. Helens can be taken in from our giant living room and kitchen windows. (See a photo of the mountain in my slide show located below.) We have a front row seat to the mountain's many moods and faces. Each day in our country refuge brings a new adventure as we seek to serve and glorify the Lord!
The photos of our home school happenings and my children were 2 years old, so I decided to enlist the help of my oldest daughter to get them up-to-date! Since she is a computer wizard (and I unfortunately am quite technically challenged) she was more thatn delighted to help me whip a new slide show into shape for my blog.
County fair begins for us this week, so we'll be just about living there. I have one son away at church camp, one gone to Boy Scout camp and the girls home - working dilligently with their horses. Competitions begin tomorrow.
My hubby has been the in-house home remodeler for the past couple of weeks and he has the children's bathroom almost completely re-done.
And then there is this year's school to start thinking about...well, maybe not just yet!
We just finished with fair/horses. It was a lot of fun.
How long has your daughter been a part of 4-H? (I don't know much about fairs but it's my understand that if your in the fair with horses, your part of 4-H)
Does she ride English? Western? How'd she do last year in competitions?
Antoinette
You asked what our family did at 4-H---
Rachel entered the Western Pleasure horse competitions. She has had only English riding lessons for training, so she really had no clue what was expected for Western Pleasure. We were both really surprised at the whole western pleasure aspect of what it takes to win.
We've both decided we like English way better.
What about your daughter? Does she do Western, or English? And if she does English, does she jump?
Rachel wants to be on the drill team next year - it does look like a lot of fun. I don't know if your 4-H has a drill team, but it's like choreopgraphy on a horse with country music in the background and everyone wears matching outfits.
Your 'grooming a horse competition' sounded totally interesting! We didn't have anything like that. I'd love to see pictures and a post (if you have any time to do this) on what she participated in.
What kind of horse do you have? Was it trained before you bought it?
And how I find time to blog...hmmmm....well, sometimes I do a little before the kids get up in the morning and after dh has left for work; sometimes I have a few minutes before dh has come home for the evening, and dinner is just waiting to be served, and other times, all the kids are watching a movie with dad (or playing a pc game) and I sneak a little bit of time in there, too.
I'd have more time, I guess, if I didn't blog, but I enjoy it. It's my hobby.
