Monday, September 1, 2008 - Back on the roller coaster.
Here is a note I wrote to an aquaintance. She saw me struggling at church and emailed to see if she could pray. Here is my response to her:
Beth, you are TOO sweet!
YES, you can pray. Life at home with our boy has been HARD. We've homeschooled him for three years, and Saturday (late notice!) decided that he needs to go to Conway School.
There are so many difficult things about this. We are not thrilled at the influence and social hazards of school. We hope he can handle them. Home has been miserable. He and I tend to get into power struggles, no matter how HARD I have tried to avoid them. He is often (quite often....) unkind to his sister and disrespectful to Sean and I. We do NOT expect these things to get better with public school!
I'm not thrilled with the humiliation I am bound to face at bringing my kid back. I'm sure he isn't up to their standards in writing or behavior! I know the Lord is my one and ONLY judge, praise GOD! Without that, I am sure I could not stand. I am expecting the "so you tried to teach your kid at home, huh?" line. Not looking forward to it.
I am also crying quite a bit lately. My prayer is that I am not a blubbering idiot when I go to enroll him on the first day, Tuesday.
Thank you for caring. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS. Tuesday is going to be tough.
