Mar. 4, 2006 - 1st sunburn of the season

Well, the kids and I all got a little too much sun while hiking today. The first sunburn of the season. We went to Woolly Hollow State Park and put on our hiking backpacks that my husband got me for my birthday and tried them out. We just went down the short trail and down by the very low lake and under the fishing pier with our packs on. I'm sure we looked silly b/c Woolly Hollow doesn't have a backpacking trail. We had our 2 yr old and we couldn't carry her, so we couldn't go very far. Our 5 yr old daughter has just recently been able to keep up with us and today she did pretty good--not too much complaining. Of course our son did very well--what boy wouldn't? Until the 5yo took away the little hiking stick from the 2yo, she was doing quite well and keeping up w/o any fuss. We played at the park and fixed lunch and enjoyed the cool breeze and the warm sun. Stopped for cokes and M-M's on the way home and also found a scrapbook store and I purchased some hiking/backpacking stickers and what not to make a page for today's outing.

well, now Mom and Dad are on their way for a short visit overnight.
