Jun. 19, 2008 - Poem worthy of an Emmy

Posted in Poetry

My daughter wrote this poem and shared it with me.  I thought it should go here in my blog.
At first, she tried to sing it to me.  I thought it was sweet anyway.

Rainy Day

by Emma Reddin

Oh, Rainy Day go away
Let the Sun shine
Let the Thunder stop
Let the Dark Clouds go away
Let the Rain Drops stop dropping
And let the Puddles dry.
I love Sunny Days when I can go outside.

(on the way to Little Rock when I was 7 years old)

    SUMMER VACATION

There'll be no Summer Vacation for me
You see, we're having another baby
Instead, I'll be pulling out the little socks
That had been put up high in a box.
I'll be looking for a sale on a bouncy seat
Instead of enduring the hot summer heat.
I'm sure he'll be as sweet as he can be,
But still, there'll be no Summer Vacation for me.

    Apr. 10, 2006 - silly poetry

    Posted in Poetry

In honour of my son, a poem about sister. Mamma can relate.

    Having a little sister

Isn't as bad as having a blister

    She might make you sore,

    But she's never a bore.

Even though I've seen her pop and ooze,

I'm glad she's grown out of the terrible two's.

    Mar. 28, 2006 - God's Providence

    God's Providence

    Where are You, Lord?

    In the deepest, darkest swamp,

Filled with gaters and creepy things.

You provide the firm, solid ground.

    In the flat, still bayous

You are the peace of the night

And the strength to keep rowing.

When all my memories come together,

    Some things have changed

    Others remain the same

I see that You have been with me

    And never left my side.

    Mar. 28, 2006 - God's Goodness

    Posted in Poetry

    God's Goodness

Why do we want to praise You?

Because You bless us with every spiritual blessing.

Your love stretches from the highest mountain.

And we reach up with outstrectched arms.

Your voice calls in the ocean waves

And Your power is revealed in the loudest lightning.

When the storm roars all around me

And the heat of the afternoon suffocates me,

You provide a dry, cool place of rest.
