Spritiual school work vs. regular school work

so what to do first? and how much time spent? and does it all count for something? I always feel like I'm in a bind whrn I want to do more Jesus stuff yet I have so many other things to accomplish. Of course spiritual needs to come first....but I could spend all day on that....how do we get done everything that needs to be done? sometimes it just seems like there aren't enough hours in a day to do it all. and how many days of what subjects....and if they are interested do you just keep going and forget the rest of your day and read history all day long? sometimes I feel like I stress myself out to get it all done or what I feel needs to be done but I need to keep in mind that Christ needs to be the center and focus...and I can never do too much of that. ....Oh Lord grant me wisdom.

We spend a solid hour on Bible each day and it is the 1st thing we do, then I continue to integrate it into the rest of the day. If it goes overtime, I just let it. Sometimes we spend most of the day on one subject, if they are all interested in it because that is when they are really learning, I think.
Right now, we are only doing Bible, Math and Reading just because we are almost finished with Math and want to hyper-focus on it to get it done. When we are done, we will pick the rest back up and finish (hopefully by the end of May)
You may have been asking a rhetorical question...LOL! Anyway, this is what we have done, but I understand your desire. :)

My son has a very short attention span so most of what we do is in short bursts and we have to mix up subjects to keep his attention. He is 6. However, we incorporate the Lord into everything we do. We may not spend an hour reading the Bible, but we do talk about the Lord and he asks questions about God all the time. Everything we do, we relate it to the Lord. My dd is 16 and is very interested in anything that discusses the Lord. She and I have lots of discussion time during the day and we will often put off school to watch something on the History Channel or other that is either in support of Christain values or against. Either way we discuss the impact on our lives as we search His Word for the truth. I don't think you should worry so much about putting other subjects off for the Jesus Stuff, but my question to you would be how you could incorporate the Jesus Stuff into all the other subjects. Just a thought.

Our knowledge and understanding of God's Word and our godly character is what has eternal value. Everything else is temporal. I would highly recommend reading God's Word first and I would also recommend reading aloud books that encourage godly character. Academics truly are secondary to spiritual things.
Concerning academics... perhaps you could try Charlotte Mason's approach to doing only 15 to 20 minute lessons in the morning. And then in the afternoon explore creation with your children... or read more history, science, or whatever else they are interested in.
A Scripture stands out in my mind...
Matthew 6:33 ~ "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you"
Put eternal things first... everything else will find its place.
