I want to see more. My boys would love to tromp around those old castles.

I am very curious. Where is it and what is it?

---------------

Some clues: it's in Fife, next to a quarry.

Is it a fort, a storehouse, a public restroom? Hummm...

Cheers,

---------------

No, none of those. Keep guessing. It's next to a quarry.

It's a sample of the quarried stone, to show potential buyers what can be achieved with the quarry's fine product. Am I right? *grin*

---------

Not quite: the quarry produced something that needed processing, and this building was for that purpose. Any ideas?

Is it a limekiln?

-------------

Bingo! Yes, it's an enormous limekiln. There's a great article on Wikipedia about limekilns, for anyone who wants to know more.

It is no longer used and it looks at least a couple of hundred years old.
Still thinking...

A Roman fort? Part of the Antonine Wall?

-------------

It could have been, couldn't it? In fact, it's a limekiln.
