This week was a "basic"
week. Pretty straight forward in all subjects. We're moving
along well in the Pathway Readers. In MUS Joshua is learning to
add double and triple digits
.
He's doing so well. I don't know whether to say it's because MUS
is such a great curriculum or because Joshua is a such a bright and
intelligent student. I guess you'd just have to say it's a bit of
both!
This week in Science we took a little adventure into the world of dogs.
We
didn't do much except read through a few books. Joshua's favorite
book was a book that told us about how we can "talk" to dogs. We
found out about the body language of dogs and how to communicate with
them by our body language. We were able to experiment with many
of the ideas in the book and used Coda as a LIVE exhibit. We
learned that Coda does in fact "talk" to us with his ears, tail, and
his entire body. We also discovered that the largest dog is the
Mastiff and the smallest dog is the Chihuahua. We also answered
Joshua's question: Do Dogs Have Knees? We found out that dogs
have a joint where a "knee" would be in their hind legs. But it
is called the Stifle Joint. In fact, we looked it up and found
this definition: "The joint of the hind leg analogous to the human knee
in certain quadrupeds, such as the horse." Great research--I
learned something new right along side Joshua! Joshua also drew a
picture of Coda and wrote a little about him.
