Managing my home!

I put this schedule together over the last few weeks.  Many of you may recognize it from the "Managers of Their Home" manual.  I was able to borrow a copy from a friend and get some helpful insights.
I will admit that I have subconsciously been following a schedule that is very similar to this all along.  The only part of the day that lacked much structure was from about 9am till lunchtime.  The early morning hours have always been pretty set up, and the early afternoon with school going on during naptime has also been very regular.    The reason I was eager to try out a formal schedule is for the sake of those few morning hours when I usually spend time doing catch-up on housework, mess around on the computer, and the kids spend the time playing.  Playing isn't bad at all, but I felt a little more structure during the morning might help stave off any squabbles.
Thursday and Friday of last week we experimented with the schedule.  As I could have guessed the parts of the day that have always been structured went as the schedule outlined.  But mid-morning and late afternoon/evening fell out of schedule fairly quickly.    And the problem was that when I was trying to work with Caleb one-on-one Joshua and Daniel wanted to be involved.  And when I got around to play time with Daniel, he was not willing to do anything that I suggested.  The kids mostly went about their same routine: playing on their own or in pairs throughout the morning.
Anyway, the idea looks great down on paper.  We'll see over the next few weeks as to whether or not it translates into a truly workable and practical daily schedule!

I think that is a great book and have read it myself! However, you have taken it a step further by actually completing a family schedule... I've got our school schedule down (praise the Lord!) but the rest of the day...is...well...flexible, yeah flexible! That's it...flexible...juuuussst like I want it...

How's it going? Is the schedule working out for you? I have our days scheduled pretty tightly until about 2:30, but we veer from it quite often!

I've been reading that book and have a few friends who have - but you are the first person I have ever seen that has actually done it!! Now I'm inspired! Thanks for posting the pictures.
