Our 24th Year

Nov. 15, 2006 - Out to Eat!

That is something we rarely get to do--go out to eat.  Being a single parent, I just cannot afford even a delivery pizza.  However, I got some birthday money, so after some discussion, off we went.

Choosing a place to eat is not easy.  Two of my kids are vegetarians, and have been for over eight years.  I wanted a fat-filled, cholesterol-laden hamburger, but that was out.  So we decided on Mexican.

We drove to Virginia Beach, to a restaurant called Plaza Azteca.  The food is wonderful!  Much to my surprise, when we got there, the large parking lot was full.  There was a party of 47 people waiting to be seated.  Forty-seven!  I don't know that many people well enough to go out with them!  We were seated before the 47 though, a nice table for four in a little out of the way corner of the restaurant.  We were served chips and salsa and drinks before the menus even came.  It was wonderful.

Hannah had the most unusual dinner of us all.  She ordered a vegetarian dinner that had a spinach burrito and a vegetable and cheese taco that was full of wonderful veggies.  The rest of us had the traditional chalupa/burrito/taco thing.

There was not much talking at dinner.  It was very relaxed, and we savored the food, and the time out.  It may be years before we can do it again.

Nov. 17, 2006 - you left a comment for my best sister

so I had to visit your site ... she is the best woman I know, and we got the title from a Korean student I had living here for a while. It is the phrase they use instead of best friend, but only for women!
Anyway, I wanted to let you know I enjoyed the little I could read of your blog.
I am part Jewish ... a great-aunt I think it is was Jewish.
Can you tell me what " kadosh, kadosh, kadosh, adonai sva-ot " means? It comes to my mind all the time from a song I learned a long time ago. I know the spelling is wrong.
Sorry for being so " in your face " but I was so happy for my friend that someone so lovely visited her site!
thank you,
Kristina

Nov. 17, 2006 - be encouraged

Thank you so much for the comment you left last night. It really warmed my heart to look at your blog and the way that you are 'doing life'. How amazing to have been homeschooling for 24 years and to have survived! :-) Seriously though, I don't know what your marriage situation was, but I am sorry that it was not a good experience. Be encouraged that you have encouraged me in ways you likely will never know. Blessings.
