Our 24th Year

Dec. 15, 2006 - Chanukah Readings for my Family, Night One

Chanukah begins at sundown on December 15th.

Night 1: The L-rd is Our Light

Isaiah 60:19

The sun will no more be your light by day,
       nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you,
       for the L-RD will be your everlasting light,
       and your G-d will be your glory.

Psalm 27

The L-RD is my light and my salvation—
       whom shall I fear?
       The L-RD is the stronghold of my life—
       of whom shall I be afraid?

 3 Though an army besiege me,
       my heart will not fear;
       though war break out against me,
       even then will I be confident.

 4 One thing I ask of the L-RD,
       this is what I seek:
       that I may dwell in the house of the L-RD
       all the days of my life,
       to gaze upon the beauty of the L-RD
       and to seek him in his temple.

 7 Hear my voice when I call, O L-RD;
       be merciful to me and answer me.

 8 My heart says of You, "Seek his face!"
       Your face, L-RD, I will seek.

 11 Teach me Your way, O L-RD;
       lead me in a straight path
       because of my oppressors.

  13 I am still confident of this:
       I will see the goodness of the L-RD
       in the land of the living.

 14 Wait for the L-RD;
       be strong and take heart
       and wait for the L-RD.

Thank you for adding the readings to your blog. I'll look forward to reading some of the Chanukah blessings. Thank you also for your comment regarding our church search. It has indeed been a journey that I am thankful for...but eager to have it be done too! :-)
