Dec. 22, 2006 - Eighth Night of Chanukah

Tonight is the last night of Chanukah, the night when all the candles are lit, and what is glowing on one menorah becomes a bright light when there are several. We are breaking with tradition this year, and saving the last lighting until both my grandchildren can be here, probably Tuesday. Then we will light all eight candles plus the shammash, or servant candle, on all three menorahs.
Every year we have Marty Goetz come to sing and worship with us for Chanukah. If you have not heard Marty sing, please visit his MySpace and listen to each of his songs listed there. You will be blessed! My favorite? Sanctuary. But I also love A Jew Born Anew. His MySpace address is http://www.myspace.com/martygoetz . Read about him, too. Tonight after the service, he came into the Judaica shop where I was serving, and prayed for me. What a wonderful man of G-d.
As of tonight, our Judaica shop, in a very short time, has raised quite a bit of money for Marissa, who is going to Israel to serve the L-rd. I believe we have $300 for her. That does not include other money raised for her by the Shabbat (Sabbath) School classes. I wish I could give her thousands! She has such a beautiful heart. Marissa is only 24 years old.
